Many people overlook the bottom of the statue of liberty. Look for a bronze plaque dedicated to the victims of the September 11th, 2001 NYC attack. Near the plaque, a young oak tree was planted (and is thriving) in remembrance. An older french woman pointed this out to me. Very heartfelt & touching.
