The station has an old look, as it dates from 1919. This is in high contrast to the MRT lines if you're coming from Taipei. But it is also nice to see this station with a vintage look and a different tempo. As train are not too frequent, check timetable. There are many food shops around, to get a snack if you are going to or coming back from the interesting places in the the city or the surrounding area such as Juifen, Badouzi, or the various hiking trails.

A must-see in Taichung. Be aware that the market is huge and it's easy to stray far from the entrance you started with. Wandering between the street food vendors and the many other shops (clothes, souvenirs, cheap jewelry, toys, drinks, etc.) is quite an experience because the market is very lively without being too noisy or too crowded on weekdays.

Large underground shopping center, a must-see for the variety of stores, the busy atmosphere and often music groups. The mall is actually a bit difficult to navigate, as it has several areas that will emphasize different themes, and each area is quite large. So, it's easy to spend 2 to 3 hours walking around. These areas have a main focus, such as books, manga/cosplay items, food, electronics and video games, clothes/bags, phone accessories, but there will be some mixing, which effectively makes the discovery of the place full of surprises. Be aware that most stores are closed before 10 a.m.
