Gateway Arch Riverboats
2024 Aug 18
We went on the cruise as part of a family road trip, after visiting the Gateway Arch and the museum. The cruise was generally pleasant and relaxed, with a nice breeze on a hot summer day.
It's well organized, the staff is helpful, and it was interesting to hear explanations about what we were seening (mostly the back side of old industrial buildings). We did get some great views of the Gateway arch.
The main downside is the high price, and the very wasteful practice of taking photos of each party, then printing them very large, and trying to sell them for $35, very unreasonable.
It would be much better to only take photos of people who are interested in buying, and to offer different size prints, like 4x6 or 5x7. Otherwise printing and throwing out hundreds of large photos every week- is very wasteful and foolish.
Overall- the cruise is nice if you have a lot of time, but not a 'must'. A visit to the zoo may be more fun, and admission is free.

We celebrated a family event in the Zachariah's ballroom on a Saturday evening in early May, and had a very good experience. After being discouraged by other venues closer to Boston/Newton, we were happy to find this place: it is beautiful, elegant and up to date, and just the right size for 120 people.
The event manager Mindy Keyes helped us thru the process of seeing the place, discussing different aspects and options, coordinating the catering, DJ etc. She was very professional, well organized, kind and responsive. Her guidance in planning and operating the event was very helpful.
They displayed our family name on the electronic sign by the parking lot, which was welcoming and really cool.
From 6-7 pm, the adults went to a separate room to enjoy drinks and appetizers, and then joined the teenagers in the main ballroom, for a fun party until 10pm. The tables and chairs were beautiful, elegant and comfortable, and the bar continued to serve drinks as requested. The food was of high quality and the plating was impressive, the service by the waitresses was great.
The staff was professional, kind and helpful. They were experienced and collaborated very well on every aspect of the evening, from coat hangers and place cards, to a box for the gift envelopes, presenting and cutting the cake (which they helped us order from another service provider in the area).
The bottom line price including tax, fees and gratuity was close to $100 per person, which is pretty high considering that more than half the guests did not have any alcoholic drinks. But that was still good value for a well done event in an elegant venue, on a Saturday night.
Very good experience, recommended 👌

Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park

It's a well designed and built theme park, connected to a beautiful mall (it's abog advantage to have everything indoors).
We came on a Saturday two days before Xmas. It was not too crowded so the lines were not too long. The place was clean, there were adequate restrooms on both ends of the park.
I can't rate it 5 stars because the price was too high, around $84 per person including tax, when buying online (it's $10 more when buying in person). That's too high compared with other amusement parks. It would be better to offer more options, like only 4 hours, or only 6 rides. We didn't have to buy tickets in advance, we bought on the phone when we arrived.
I have to commend Nickelodeon for allowing people to enter and exit freely from the mall, so you only pay for those who go on the rides. And you can bring strollers, bags, food etc, which is convenient.
Good experience overall, have fun :-)

Nice place to get some interesting alternative food. Great location between large condominiums and a shopping center, free parking garage nearby.
Pleasant interiors, calming music, clean restrooms, very good service, fair prices.
The only thing to improve is to serve food on paper trays when you dine in, to reduce consumption of plastics.
Good experience !

Beautiful and elegant restaurant, with a good bar, good acoustics, pleasant music and atmosphere. Very good service, although our waitress did not wear a name tag or mention her name.
The menu is a bit limited, not many options. We did not feel like having meat or seafood, so the only entree we could have was cavapati with mushrooms, and it was greasy.
The portions were relatively small and the prices were relatively high. So overall not amazing but pleasant, nice experience.
