Cypress Mountain

I'll give the resort 5 stars, while the snow conditions are worthy of 1 star due to the warmest winter in recent years. The resort is busy making snow, but most runs are bare. I'm sure it's a fantastic experience with normal conditions & I'm thinking of dropping my annual pass with Grouse Mountain & switching to Cypress for Winter sports. Cypress, IMHO, seems more authentic.
Better be in good physical condition to make it to peak of Mt. Seymour. Rocks, rocks & more rocks makes for an ankle twisting experience, so good hiking boots are an absolute requirement. Less well marked trail at Pump Peak & some serious rock scrambling required beyond. Bears were busy feasting on berries in early September, so they showed little interest in people hiking past them. Of all the North Shore trails I've hiked, I met some of the friendliest people on the Mount Seymour Trail... I'm guessing due to more locals on this trail.
You better be an experienced hiker to get to this point. The view of Coquitlam Lake is spectacular.
Dangerous for inexperienced hikers. It's a rocky, slippery mess in the beginning and then a poorly marked "deer trail" at higher elevation. The view of the lake, once on top, is spectacular.
Wow...what a beautiful urban oasis for a good hike. I did the 11 km full loop & it was a workout. From the main parking lot, head to your left to walk the trails in clockwise direction to avoid being too tired & walking up 500 stairs.
