What a great neighborhood brunch spot in an old laundromat! Solid buttermilk pancakes with blueberry maple compote and crème fraiche. Also a good Americana. However, the best of the best was the Pork Shoulder Hash. Perfect combination of pork together with sunny side eggs, potatoes, Brussel sprouts, and chile verde. It’s an example of why “brunch” was invented — the perfect combo of a breakfast and lunch food that meets the savory needs of the midmorning meal.
The Everything Biscuit was probably our second fav.
With it all, we got a sweet and savory side combo of a sticky pull apart bun and frites. Washed down with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (from some insanely good oranges), it was a perfectly sized breakfast that didn’t leave us feeling tired and bloated.

Best sushi I’ve ever eaten. Creative. Flavorful. Delicious. The only complaint I would make is the sky high cost, but you get what you pay for.
Mount Desert Island Ice Cream
Great creamy ice cream. Dropped in to grab some sweet cream to eat with some cookies I had. So good. Want to come back and try more.

Somebody Fed Phil here…So we tried it out. Really good. Fries were excellent, but no GF bread options. Salad was excellent.
The blueberry milkshake was super tasty.

Side Street Cafe
Wanted so badly to love you, Side Street. Sadly the food was average and the service was below average. With all the options available in Bar Harbor, sorry to say, the official recommendation here is: SKIP it. Probably more like a 4.2.
THE GOOD:
-the shrimp salad was excellent with really tasty dressing.
-The lobster bisque base was also outstanding (and gluten free!), though the lobster chunks tasted fishy.
-The BLT wrap was okay.
THE BAD
- The lobster here was just okay. Feels like a bit of a tourist trap. The lobster mac was very average, but a little bland. You need to cook the noodles with salty water.
THE UGLY:
-Our server never refilled our waters.
- One of our salads came without the dressing and we had to wait to get it.
-Our chocolate cake with berry compote came sans compote. And when we asked for the berries he simply said they were out, but then still charged us full price.
- After our dinner we waited 20 mins before the check.
