We recently toured the Columbia South Carolina State House. Starting at the African American monument just outside its walls.

The African American monument is a point of reflection for the long struggle over decades of oppression for blacks seeking basic human rights and freedoms for all African people.

The SC State house is beautiful inside and it’s a must see. I was very surprised to see a picture of Mary McCloud Bethune on the wall as you walk up the grand stair case. This was amazing to see and it made me feel a little bit better about the plight of those who are still struggling to survive and be heard. The state house is beautiful and the intricate detail on the walls and ceiling speak volumes about the people who built the state house. It’s a must see for historical buildings.
East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens is a beautiful cemetery. We went to make arrangements for our loved one and met with Ms Nellie who was amazing. Although we didn’t have an appointment she made time for us and we were able to finalize the arrangements. On the day of the internment Ms. Nellie was at the entrance to meet the family.Thank you East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens.
