There are reliefs surrounding the monument that worth taking a picture.
The entrance to the monument is through the underground passage. There's a museum dedicated to Indonesian history and independence in the base.

St. John’s Cathedral is a short walk from the cruise terminal.
Originally built in 1683, twice destroyed by earthquakes. Last time rebuilt in 1845.
The exterior is in a somewhat romantic state of ancient ruin: a lot of windows are boarded as well as the second tower clocks.
The interior however is what stands this cathedral apart: entirely wood laden (ceiling included) it resembles a ship of the era of great geographical discoveries complete with stained glass windows.

Built by the Peoples National Bank & Trust Company in Neoclassical style, it was opened in 1929.
The building standing 122 feet (nine stories) tall was designed by Harold P. Zoller who specialized in bank designs.
Look for the wault at the end of the grand banking room: the door is several feet thick, all the clockwork is on display.
Interesting fact: the bank had installed tear gas guns in the walls which could be fired with the press of a button.

The ritual pools are usually crowded so you'll have to look for a clean shot.
There's a pond with an amazing spring feeding it, so I suggest taking a video.
The exit leads to a maze of souvenir shops that you'll have to navigate to get back to the parking lot.
