One of our favs on the whole island!! Amazing soft golden sand, picturesque palms, and a lot of room to spread out. Parking is crowded (as most beaches in Guadeloupe). The waves can be VERY large which my kids loved. If you go right past the waves (not far from the shore at all), you can have a peaceful swim. My kids loved doing the boogie boards and there were other kids there wave skimming. There are bathrooms and water to rinse off. We saw the house from the show Death in Paradise. Had drinks at the restaurant (very good drinks). Such a good day! The restaurant does blare loud music on the beach which we did not mind. If you prefer more quite, there is plenty of space to get away on this beach for a more secluded experience.
Beauty with warning!! We have visited many of the beaches of Guadeloupe and this one is worth checking out. The waves are more aggressive here which is not my favorite for swimming but my kids had a blast on their boogie boards. However, they were scared when going out towards the largest waves as the current is very strong and it was difficult for them (13&12 years old) to swim back. The waves were over 5 feet tall- no joke. I can see how this current could be dangerous if people are not careful. There were people surfing and swimming in the shallow wave area. The black sand is velvety smooth and wonderful. There is a building with bathrooms that were not open or maintained. I feel like this is common on the island. There is some trash on all the beaches as there are no trash cans on any beach. We always bring some bags to pick up our trash and that around us so it doesn’t end up in the ocean.
