my partner was appreciative of the intel the ranger gave him about dispersed camping. they had fun national forest stickers. and the cleanest bathroom in north carolina (lol).
this park is incredible!!! don’t skip out on some amazing hikes! volunteer ranger sarah and ranger gabrielle were kind and informative. they have an awesome junior ranger book here. :) we went on a wonderful 5 mile hike through the beautiful fall colors! dog friendly, too. :)
they had better (and cheaper) Olympic National Park postcards than all the Visitor Centers/Ranger Stations combined (plus you can send postcards straight from there. tonssss of information about the surrounding areas. the volunteers were really sweet. (they have an ink passport stamp, too!)
a lovely place to explore without the crowds of the park. saw tons of wildflowers, quail, and even a desert horned lizard! beautiful views of the snow capped mountains, with many cacti and joshua trees. had some informative signs about the plants and animals in the area! as well as a clean pit toilet. dog friendly! open 7am-7pm on the dot! only complaint: the two trails are not marked well at all and are very difficult to follow. so just be open minded as you explore and make it an adventure for yourself, as opposed to following a specific trail!
we are traveling in a van and was thankful they had clean, hot showers available with no real time limit (nice to take a 15 min shower as opposed to 4 minute showers)! $7 seemed pricy, but they were the only public showers within a big stretch. was able to fill our water bottles up in an automatic water fountain right outside the showers.
