An excellent playground tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. There are multiple large slides, a zip line, a little play set for the tiny tots as well as a couple of play house type structures. My 4 year old loves riding his biking up and down the wide sidewalk along the street next to the park. We brought a lunch and ate at one of the two picnic tables. Next to the playground are three sand volleyball courts in one giant sand pit, so if your kids like to play in the sand bring some sand toys! The large power lines and towers directly above and next to the park aren’t ideal, but easily overlooked with all the fun this playground has to offer.

When we moved nearby I was initially excited to be close to the Y for all that it was supposed to offer. I’m honestly shocked anyone willingly pays money to use this facility because it’s so pitiful! In all seriousness it must be among the worst in the country in terms of the facility. Online this location is listed as having aquatics, so I was hoping I could at least get my littles some swim lessons. HAHAHA! What a joke! The pool is too small to even swim a lap and it is outdoors so can only be used in the summer. I don’t even know why the pool is listed as an amenity because you can’t work out in it. Such a shame.

I’m looking forward to them tearing this down and building a brand new facility. It’s disappointing that they’re using half of the current land for yet another apartment building in the neighborhood. They really should keep the entire property and build a large state-of-the art facility.
Really great park for many reasons. There’s a large sand pit that is shaded with a few benches close by for adults to sit. There are two play structures for the little kids and a big train play structure that is suitable for most ages - my two year old loves it! There are a couple of picnic tables, some swings, and lots of shade.

There’s a creek off to the side, which I didn’t notice the first few times I was here until I saw some kids run over that direction. I walked over with my 3.5 year old to check it out and he started playing in the dirt. Next thing I know he has at least a dozen pieces of glass in a bucket so be aware and cautious!! I’d recommend sticking to the playground 😏
Ok, my kids love this park and regularly request to go here even with all of the parks that we have to choose from. We’d probably give it a 5….some people may question a 5-star rating for this park, but if you have little kids it’s really great. For older kids, it would probably be much less exciting, so I’m giving it an overall 4-star rating. If you have little kids I think you’ll find this small enclosed park to be pretty great! It is heavily shaded for a majority of the day thanks to the many large trees surrounding the playground. There are two little kid swings, a small play set with a double slide for the littles, and a larger play set for the bigger kids, as well as a small sand pit. A couple of benches, a large picnic table, and a small picnic table perfect for kids to sit at. The playground is fully enclosed by a fence (big plus!) and outside the fence are two more picnic tables. The park is NOT quiet since you can literally see I66 from here, but I personally don’t find it too bothersome. This park has never been busy when we’ve come; it’s usually just us or one other family/group.
I really wanted to give this park 5 stars, but the main part of it is the slides (at least that’s how I see it) and they are metal and they get HOT! It was too hot to handle, so my kids got bored quickly because they couldn’t go on the slides. We came back for a second try, but this time we came with towels for the kids to sit on and they had a really great time and enjoyed the playground a lot.
Pros: you can see airplanes, boats, and lots of helicopters and maybe even some military aircraft. The cherry blossoms are beautiful in the spring and Haines Point is just generally really beautiful. No shade here at the playground, but there are huge trees nearby when you need to take a break in the shade, and plenty of picnic tables as well. As long as we have towels for the slides, it’s a good time. Bring towels and sunscreen!
