The Padrão dos Descobrimentos or Monument of Discoveries is a massive structure overlooking the Tagus River and celebrates the Portuguese ships that departed this area during the Age of Discovery during the 15th and 16th century. As a modern-day sailor myself, I'm in awe of these explorers that braved the oceans during this time with the technology they had during that time period. Much respect, Portugal 🇵🇹 🙌
Want to try some authentic Uzbek or Russian cuisine? You have to try this spot! The food was so hearty and delicious. The service was spectacular, but you have to listen intently because everyone I spoke with had a strong Russian accent which made me feel more like I was in another country and the food I was about to eat wad going to be amazing and it was. They have a huge selection of in-house infused vodkas to choose from. I had the habanaro shot and the mango shot. I wanted to try their sweet and spicy versions. They were both amazing, but be forewarned. If you can't handle the heat, you may want to stay away from the spicier selections. 🤣

I did feel the place was a bit overpriced. Given the location, which is attached to a movie theater next to a basic strip mall and the waiters were wearing jeans and we had paper napkins, I would expect the prices to be a little less. However, the food was so good I will be back. But I would suggest that the manager upgrade from t-shirt and blue jeans when working.
The food was amazing! I would have given a 5-star rating but the venue had a bit of a fast food feel for the price you pay. The service was excellent as well. Had a very nice conversation with our server about Thailand. We were just in Thailand a few weeks ago so I wanted to try their Kao Soi Kai and it did not disappoint. A bit pricey but we'll be back.
Great local venue for plays! Caught a presentation of Tiny Tim's Christmas Carol and they did a great job. 🙌
Many ethnic restaurants I go to I have some favorite dish that I judge a restaurant by so for me it's Panang Curry when visiting a Thai Restaurant for the first time. My wife and I were doing some local business in Alexandria, VA when we noticed Thanida Thai Restaurant and thought we'd give them a try. You have to understand that we live in a condo that is right next door to another Thai competitor, so we feel like we're cheating on a girlfriend or something. I have to say if we're in a relationship we said next door restaurant we're gonna have to break up after today's lunch! The Panang Curry was amazing with the right amount of creamy coconut sweetness, with the savory peanutty flavor I love and just the right amount of heat. My wife's Pad Eggplant was the bomb!! That garlicky basil sauce I just can't get out of my mind and the colors are like a painting. Well done!! A new favorite for us. We'll be back. ❤️❤️
