The George Washington Masonic National Memorial

Loved visiting here. Fascinating place with an amazing history and the views from the observation tower are spectacular. Even if the Freemasons are not of interest to you there is much more to this place. But as a Memorial to George Washington. It is filled with artifacts of the nations 1st president.
Imo not to be missed if you are in Alexandria.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here tonight. Staff was pleasant and helpful and the food was very fresh and tasty. Lots of choice which would be good if you were in a large party. Recommend if you are in St Louis.

Love architecture? If so please don't miss the opportunity to see the Marquette building. Go inside view the lobby and the museum. Quite the stunning blast from the past. Exquisite mosaics surround the lobby and the attention to detail. Wow!
St. John's Church Foundation

If like me you enjoy history, this is a must when in Richmond. The church itself is beautiful inside and the re enactment of the famous words that Patrick Henry said here during the 2nd Virginia convention is a must.
The church is a working church and still holds service on a Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoons and I believe thurs - Sunday the church becomes the dominion of the St John's Foundation. This a group that are dedicated to ensuring the church remains open and accessible to all as well as making sure that the words of Patrick Henry remain as powerful as they were at the time of the American Revolution.
The performances are well done and there was a q & a session afterwards with the audience. A wander around the grave yard is in order after the performance and you might be able to find the grave site of Edgar Allan Poe's Mother who is interned there.

This is one stop I thoroughly recommend if you are Richmond. Be warned though the place is huge, thought provoking and at the same time relaxing. There are many static and a few revolving exhibitions set in a beautiful building with equally beautiful gardens.
