North Cove Marina
It's a thrill to sail into New York harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, and then dock your boat next to the megayachts, right under the Freedom Tower in New York City in North Cove Marina. An expensive thrill.
This is also the marina that was right beside the twin towers and that was used to rescue and ferry people away from that tragedy on 9/11.
For us, this marina was worth every penny because it allowed an elderly wheelchair bound NYC relative to visit our boat because of the access it afforded.
And there was nothing better than hanging out on our sailboat, Golden Glow, at Happy Hour in such a special place...for a brief visit.

I highly recommend Thiptara, if you want the very best view of Burj Khalifa and the fountain show during your dinner.
I booked online and added a request that I would like a corner table on the patio overlooking these sites.
When we arrived, the maître d’ commented that we had the best table and led us to exactly what I had requested. In the hot weather, you will eat on the enclosed patio, which is air-conditioned, which is it really a blessing. There is a minimum charge, but it’s not hard to spend that as this is not a budget restaurant. However, it’s well worth it.
Our table was so well positioned that other diners came and stood behind it to admire the fountain show on the half hour.
The food was very good, the service was a bit leisurely, but it was a crowded evening. All in all, we got exactly what we were looking for and recommend this restaurant for those wanting the best view.
