First came here on a picnic with a pal I made at University along with my now wife (the word still feels . . . weird) and my pal's partner, who we love. I brought another friend here, briefly, however, because work called in to interrupt us. This time is was my parents I towed here. I think they liked it. Hard to believe that this is still part of Seattle. Such views! All the boats--ferries, sailboats, tankers, cargo ships--so miniscule-looking, so miniature-looking. And a ripe spot to launch on off to discovery park where you walk down to the beach. From the bluff to the beach. That's what it is. That's what we did. That's a memory I'll hang on to.

Wonderful looking. Wonder inspiring. Also saw people parking, so maybe I was wrong about the no parking thing I told my parents. Handicap spots, which is awesome to see.

Perfect, even in the depth of winter. Saw two people rigging their kites for kite surfing an hour before sunset. Probably loads of fun, and I hope they made it back. Love the little stones on the beach.

One of the best sunsets I've seen on the west coast. And so nice to see with local folk milling about. We were here staying with a friend's aunt on the island. Our friend is married to another one of our friends. They actually met in elementary school (or middle?) and reconnected in college. That was in Michigan. And I bring up Michigan because one of the issues the west coast has with sunsets is that it is so rare to have cloud formations that show the glint of the sinking sun. Michigan? No problems there, they have clouds galore! Of all kinds! But this sunset at San Juan County Park was breathtaking, one of those you don't want to leave, but, when you really have to go, you keep looking over your shoulder, keep snapping quick photos, half regretting looking at the scene through your phone instead of enjoying the moment but half thinking you'll be grateful to have those photos later so can revisit that time, that time with friends, that time on this island, and share them with you :]
