I applaud the winery for having a tasting flight that was dedicated solely to white wines that was reasonably priced at $22. My fav sip was the Clara C Brut Prosecco.

Beyond the amazing offerings, the property is steeped in American history. Formerly a plantation, the house located on the grounds, dates back to 1775 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

As more research is done at the winery, I look forward to seeing how the enslaved African Americans are incorporated into the narrative of this property.
I’m always up for trying a new hard cider to add to my personal stash and the Bee Sting was a winner in my book.

Just as the name implies the dry cider will give you an instant buzz but the honey mead will level out your palate and leave a lingering sweet taste that will have you eager to take another sip.

Besides cider tasting there is also axe throwing lanes available on the property for a group bonding moment. To be safe I highly recommend that you do this before your tasting.

Full disclosure, this is a pretty hefty drive if your coming from Northern Virginia or DC. So if you go, make sure to go on a weekend during the day, so that you won’t feel rushed.
On a random day in DC browsing thru the Apple Store, I discovered the DC History center that is located on the second floor of the historic Carnegie Library.

At the time of my visit, the pop up exhibit entitled DC Home Rule 50 was on display. The collection of images highlights topics such as DC statehood and full citizenship.

I was very intrigued by the panoramic photos of black culture in the 1950’s & 1960’s. Especially the junior high school picture of Marvin Gaye.

The museum is free to visit, however donations are always welcomed.

It’s been a few years since I went on a Lincoln walking tour and I loved how interactive our tour guide was by allowing the guests to participate by providing the clues to solve the case.

I also learned a few fun facts, such as the National Mall was actually a mega market area and just a few blocks down on Constitution Avenue there was a red light district that the police would not even venture in too.

The tour is a easy walk that spans 90 minutes of DC history at eight historical sites
Thai Treasure Restaurant & Bar is located in the Ballston area in Arlington, VA and is literally a 15 minute walk from Ballston Quarter.

Dumplings are my weakness and the veggie dumplings were flavorful and beautifully crafted. Adding the chili sauce kicked up the heat factor and didn’t over power the dumplings.

The Pad Thai Chicken was a crowd pleaser among the Yelp NoVa elite squad.

And no Thai meal is complete without having a glass of Thai Ice Tea to wash it down. I should have took a cup to go, but you know there’s always next time. 😋
