Utrecht Station

As with many Dutch railways stations the Utrecht public transport hub is a well thought through pivot point for many travellers. Covered platforms, bright central hall, clear signage, clean environment and many shops for the hungry commuter (without the need for 'checking out' on the public transport card ('OV kaart'). Can get busy during rush hour. Large shopping mall ('Hoog Catharijne') at walking distance.

Magna Plaza

Magna Plaza is a remarkable building, both inside and outside. Formerly a post office it's now a mall. Not all floors have shops though, due to apparent renovation work. Yet worth a visit.

The little forest 'de Hemelsche Berg', translated to 'Heavens mountain' isn't actually a mountain but from nature point of view, it's truly a bit of heaven on earth. Natural wells feed little creeks that meander through the woods, covering height differences with a plentitude of waterfalls. Hiking trails zigzag around these, with wooden bridges to cross the water every now and then.
Good place for a relaxing walk while close to city of Oosterbeek and Arnhem.
Action
2022 Jan 05
During the covid pandemic, Action isn't quite fast in handling the click and collect process. People trying to pick up their order at the wrong time-slot, orders that aren't finished in time or incomplete orders all contribute to delays. Wait times of over 15 minutes (for something that can just take 2 minutes) aren't unusual.
In shop shopping remains always good and prices are low, as usual for Action. Friendly and helpful staff.

The ancient cellars of Arnhem let you experience the medieval times and the sublevel architecture of those times. The cellars have been dug out and all connected contributing to an overall experience. The mysterious writings and doors in the adjacent 'Rijnstraat' at ground level come all to sense when visiting the cellars. Reasonable priced. Total visit will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Guided tours available too. Good for warm summer days as the temperature in the cellars is at a constant 15°C.
