You MUST reserve tickets and time to do this hike. Then you have a 30 minute window around your time to get in the park. Taking a taxi or ride share is recommended. You can take the bus but it doesn't go all the way to the entrance. It's roughly $15. On the way back you can ride share or take one of the taxis chilling at the entrance.

There are water refilling stations by the restrooms and vending machines so don't stress if you don't think you have enough water. Stay hydrated. The hike is pretty easy until you get to the stairs. The recommended route left instead of the 99 steps is a good idea. Most people will take this path and going down the spiral staircase is pretty cool.

Plan at least 4+ hours if you want to see all the animals. It is a huge zoo, both in size and in the variety of animals on exhibit. The Arizona landscape in the savanna area adds a wonderful element of authenticity and ambience that other zoos don't have. There are lakes, little islands for monkeys to call home without netting, and so much to see. This is a wonderland for children as well. Lots to do to keep them entertained all day.

It's definitely worth the $40/person for adult admission. And if you live in the area, the membership is well worth the investment as well.

Neighborhood restaurant serving great meals. They have the typical Thai dishes but the skewers are more unique and recommended.

Unassuming restaurant specializing in noodle soups but most people seemed to order the rice or dry noodles plates. I assume they're good too. We got the wonton and roasted duck soup noodles, which were delicious. There are spicy sauce racks in the back that add some heat to whatever you order. Add a beer and a hot tea for a total of 45 euros. Very reasonable and fulfilling.

A very nice park outside central Amsterdam with ample bike paths, walking paths, and places to relax. This is much more representative of the Amsterdam life that's not insanely busy like the Red Light District. A much needed break from the bright lights.
