Elephant Rock Camp Site Lake Murray
2024 Jan 06
We had a great stay at Elephant Rock. We started out in site 15. The first night there it poured all night. We woke up to our site being flooded. We flagged down an Oklahoma Park Worker and he gave us a printout with phone numbers and a map on it. We called the main office to see if we could move 1 site over. They were able to accommodate us in site 13. So, if there is rain in the forcast, do not reserve site 15. It will hold water for a few days with a heavy rain. There is no culvert on it to drain the water. We had full hook-ups at our site. We had access to laundry - washer/dryer $1 each per load/cycle - just across the road from us. That same building had 5 showers and a bathrooms. It was just a short walk to the lake where our son tried fishing off the dock but it was too shallow to catch anything. It was about 15 min drive into the city of Ardmore. There is a Country Lake Store at the entrace to the park too for quick things and fuel. They had propane exchange and pizza too. The campground was quiet most of the 2 weeks we were there. It filled up the weekend after Christmas for New Years. We didn't have only 1 encounter with the camp host when we wanted to move over 1 site. He wasn't much help (the state park guy came through before the camp host got over to our site to check it out) and we didn't see him only a few times the 2 weeks we were there. Firewood was kind of spendy in a couple spots. We went to Atwood and got 50 lbs for $15. It was mostly hardwood but once we got the fire going, it was a good fire. We also got wood at Tractor Supply for $7. That was about as big around as a 5 gal bucket. All in all, we had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Aquarium of Niagara

This was a nice aquarium to visit on a rainy day. The seal show was great. It was fun watching them. It was fun watching the penguins too. We felt $20/adult was overpriced for what you got. The encounters were like $85. I figured they would be expensive but not that expensive. So, we did not pay for any encounters. We still enjoyed our time there - about 2 hrs I think we were there. There was plenty of parking but you had to pay $5 for that too.
