Oh how I wanted this place to be better. The restaurant has such a great vibe; Small, quirky, friendly and warm. The staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful and attentive. We asked our waiter for wine recs and he steared us in the right direction with orange wine, just enough funk to be interesting but not so much that it was off putting. We started with the bread and olive oil which I would say is a must and might be the best thing on the menu. Fresh, crusty warm bread with phenomenal olive oil to dip. We then gave full control to our waiter and told him to just put in for 4-5 dishes that he thought were best. We had the Little Gem Salad with pistachios, Beef Tartare, Pithivier (broccoli rabe), and Fried Stuffed Olives. Each dish had quality ingredients and textures, but the chef was very heavy handed with the salt and it overpowered everything. We love salt, but I think they love it more. Overall, a pleasurable experience and I would return with a group if I was already in the area, but it's not going to be a destination or go to spot.
Oh Tompkins Square have you either gone downhill or it was just a bad day. I brought my friend who was visiting from Scotland here because it used to be my favorite bagel in the city but was just not near my apartment. Sadly our experience has taken that title away. The everything bagels were cold, barely covered, and almost tasted stale. Her egg sandwich with turkey bacon which she requested extra crispy was sad, limp and barely filled. I had the weezer and the bacon was barely cooked and fatty so I had to remove it. The sausage was cold and the sandwich mostly flavorless. Honestly a very depressing moment. I probably won’t travel out of my way for this bagel again. Saying goodbye Tompkins Square.

Great atmosphere and vibe. Just pretentious enough. Cocktails are very unique and interesting. Appreciate the guide and flavor descriptions for all the drinks. They just changed the cocktail menu and were already out of two of them which was disappointing. Bartender warmed up as we talked to him and help guide our choices. My friend got “Rosemary” which based on the description we expected and wanted a more rosemary forward flavor. It was a solid drink but heavy on the gooseberry vinegar flavor. It was a little off putting at first but got better once it settled into the drink. I got the black sesame which I really enjoyed but still cannot describe the flavor profile it was so different. Definitely smoky, spicy and almost milky. Before we left our bartender made us a quick sample of a drink we wanted on the old menu “jalapeño” and it was strange and phenomenal. Definitely not somewhere I would spend a few hours but will be back for a quick pre or post dinner drink in the future.
Whiskey Town

You don't go to Whisky Town for the selection of pretty much anything. The beer is bottom barrel choice and the whisky/bourbon selection is mid level for the area. With that said, the atmosphere is laid back and easy going which is nice when you are just looking to hang out and chat with some friends. Best to get there on the earlier end though if you want to be able to actually talk to people around you.Bartenders are friendly and attentive which earns this place that 4th star.
Good Thanks Cafe

This place is amazing. We were told a 30 minute wait but it ended up only being about 10 minutes. Coffee is phenomenal, definitely order it here. I had the kimchi toast and I have no idea how they make these scrambled eggs but damn are they fluffy and delightful!! My friend had the egg sandwich and said it was fantastic. Adding this to my go to breakfast spots in the neighborhood!
