The free ferry from Battery Park to the Staten Island ferry landing is huge. It is comfortable with lots of seats, vending machines, and snack bars. There are several levels so any view you are interested in will be availiable.

This is a small, cozy museum that is not on the usual tourist route but it is well worth a visit. It is mostly concerned with the maritime traffic and culture of the first settlements of Staten Island. This model of a mastodon is here to represent the mastodon which was discovered to have roamed Staten Island about 10,000 years ago. The mastodons' hair was made with goat hair.

Subway is here so it does have a place to go in the morning. There is a very good steak house here too. I bank at the Chase Manhatten branch here which is brand new. They built it just last year.

Although it was hot outside, there was a nice breeze coming from the bay. There are some nice cafes i the area. The food and drinks were good.
