Belly of the beast
From all restaurant experiences in Cape Town, irrespective of price, venue or location, this restaurant is in my top 5.
Exquisite flavors, good portions and perfect balance. Not overly rich, so it’s manageable to go through the courses quite easily.
Honestly at this price point it’s quite cheap for what they deliver here, relatively speaking.
Note that they were kind enough to allow a wine sharing to be split into 2 and served in separate glasses as well. Made it a lot easier to enjoy the experience even though I was driving later.

Crane and Feathers
Really well designed venue, with a good looking menu. Unfortunately it is let down with really poor service, possibly untrained servers is the cause.
The steak fillet was ok, cooked to the right temp and with good sides.
The pasta was overcooked while the meatballs and sauce was tasty and done well.
The 2 starters I ordered as confirmed with waiter was forgotten about. I asked about it when the mains were delivered and I got an apology with no explanation.
This should have been 2 stars, except the margaritas were really good.
Will this place a try again, maybe it was just an off day.

Al Firenze
Always consistent restaurant. Excellent authentic Italian cuisine. Sort of a hidden gem being in the middle of a residential area.
Pastas, grills, seafood all excellent.
1 of my favourites here had many times is the baby chicken done in the pizza oven, delicious.

Mochi Mochi
Feels like a bit of Tokyo, right here in ct. Clean well designed, Instagram friendly restaurant.
After eating a lot for lunch, all I could manage was the Japanese cheesecake and mochi with macha iced tea. Everything I tasted was just ideal, takes you back to japan in an instant. I will definitely go back here to try more of the menu.

Royal Tandoor
The food here was excellent. I had the mixed grill to share between 2 people and it was more than enough food. Vibrant and intense flavours with a great Smokey kick. The food here was some of the best grills that I’ve had, although all was served on 1 platter there was still distinct different flavour profiles in each of the items.
Service was a bit poor though.
