Jones Point Park
A lovely park in the south part of old town alexandria. It has a large walking trail and is bike friendly, and pet friendly as well. There was plenty of parking available there on a Saturday afternoon.
The views from the park are really beautiful and calming. There are historical fact graphics along the trails, and thankfully bathrooms as well (although the men’s bathroom had a big leak on my visit).
It’s a great spot for a picnic, or to get out of the house :)

Goodwill of Greater Washington Retail Store
Most goodwills in NOVA are always great. This store was no different. It’s located to another thrift store, be thrifty, but has great customer service and variety of items. The staff was friendly, the store clean and the store provided wide walking areas, which was a great surprise since most stores cram everything into very tight aisles.
Elofts
Good apartment complex to consider in the area. Their window sizes are big and generous, and they have some decent floor plans.
What stood out was the generous space given for the amenities. They had plenty of private office spaces and other more public seating areas. They also had a large outdoor courtyard with plenty of seating, ping pong tables and (only) one grill. Great for hosting and being productive too. The only amenity that didn’t seem to fit with everything else was the small and a bit outdated gym.
I ultimately chose to look elsewhere after my tour due to the apartments not having any windows that can open.
I was surprised to find out this building used to be an office building, so they may be very well insulated. It’s well located and does have a bus running through the street downstairs.
I would recommend giving this place a tour.

Bell Arlington Ridge Apartments
Moga was one of the best leasing agents and tour guides we’ve had! Right when we walked in she was super helpful, patient and a great listener as we discussed our needs for our new home. She showed us around the lovely community and I really liked the big gym area as well as the lounge area. The pool I did find a bit small, but the big outdoor (enclosed) courtyard made up for it.
I’m excited to revisit these as my lease comes to an end.

Hama Sushi
Great sushi spot in the Herndon area. I ordered for pickup and the wait time was a reasonable 20 minutes. Their indoor dining seemed great with pretty decor.
The host was nice and patient as he got my order and rang me up for payment. Although the sushi is pricey (as usual), it was all delicious. Highly recommend the shrimp tempura! I appreciated that they included silverware and napkins with my takeout order :).
