Park Diner

Excellent ‘50s style retro diner plastered with memorabilia and kitsch with a really friendly staff, good (if basic) food, and a fun vibe. You really get that nostalgic service that you hope for, the staff goes out of their way to be personable and helpful, even when they’re busy.

This is one of the best places in town for kids—I’ve been coming here for probably close to two decades now, so I can tell you that I still remember getting a kid’s meal when my grandpa came to visit from California and took our family out—they come in super cool paperboard antique cars (era appropriate, of course).
I’d also recommend giving the milkshakes a try, they’re top class.
Nice park with wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and hiking trails. It even has a decent, if obscured, view as soon as you get out of the car. It’s big and goes right out to the Mississippi, I haven’t gone far into it, but it sure looks like you could spend hours and hours here.

The food here is okay, it’s tasty, but the chicken has a lot of fat in it and the cuts are pretty mediocre quality. That doesn’t particularly bother me, but they charge as much and more than places that use higher quality cuts.

The real issue is that this place is incredibly dirty. I came in with my daughter and couldn’t put her in a high chair or booster seat because they were all disgusting, there was food all over them, they were sticky with built up gunk from months of not being cleaned properly.
The soda machine has disgusting residue from the buttons never being cleaned. That brown garbage is literal months of dead skin cells and whatever bacteria people have been bringing in!
The chairs are the same way, cracks and months worth of residue from hands and bodies. Absolutely disgusting. The floors haven’t even been properly swept, I was here before noon, and it still looked like this.

I would not recommend anybody eat here until the management figures out how to do more than the bare minimum for cleaning.

This park is gorgeous, but more run down than most of the parks in the area. There simply doesn't seem to be the same level of care. It's still well worth visiting, it's a gem right in the middle of everything, and many people don't even realize it exists, so it's usually quiet.
I highly recommend it, I just hope the city takes some time to get it in proper shape.
