A pleasant walk at any time. In the winter they groom the ice for skating and there are shelters with seating to put your skates on.

The current exhibition at the U of W art gallery was an instructor of mine from my university courses. She like to work with casting and hand built aot wheel thrown pottery and was experimenting with computer aided aspects of her ceramic areas. This is reflected in this work, an examination of the funny shapes that grow out of dead trees and such. It might be my own computer background, but in addition to the 3d scans of the eruption shapes I noticed that the web of the tree trunks formed binary trees themselves.
It was a bit confusing to find the gallery, the main entrance to the campus is in the middle of the building complex, but once there the gallery is just around the corner, under the escalators, not far from the post office. You have to schedule your visit, which makes it hard to just pop in, but it is an interesting study in ceramics

Haven't been here for decades. The place certainly has changed since the 70's, and now includes WRENCH, a group that helps kids and others get and maintain bicycles. Nice airy feeling, despite an antiseptic hint it is still a welcoming environment. There is a small walled in exterior area where you can meet and greet potential family members. We registered to meet a dog from the on line posting but they called and discussed him with us, coming to the conclusion we were not the best matchup, but recommended a new arrival so we went in to see her and came home a couple of hours later with this little lady. They supply a couple days worth of food so there is no rush about getting supplies. She's already settling in, and I think I'm down a few pounds having to walk her every day. (I would strongly suggest getting cleats for your boots, the streets are incredibly slick and slippery and a misplaced tug on the leash could take you down.)

Been a fan of the Exchange district gallery for years, was really happy to have this office open up just minutes from where I live. It is much smaller tha the Exchange district one, of course, but they try to cycle the display on a monthly basis. Since they've been open a bit under two months that means this is their second cycle.
Both exhibitions centred on landscapes, but I like the pictures this time more than the first cycle. The previous works were more abstract, in that they were not of real places. They were not Dali like or Picasso cubistic, just not rel. Most of the images this time are of real places, some of which are familiar to me (we used to go camping at Moon Lake when I was a little kid) There are some adventuresome pieces on display, Wanda Koop is represented. Even if you don't feel like buying, it is a nice place to check out. Its very informal, so you can pop in just before you go do your shopping or at any time they are open.

Small place in a strip mall by the old Vasalund site. It was fantastic, great service, wonderful food. It might be a bit far out, but worth a trip, especially if you're in the area.
