Fish Lake Regional Park

Tons to do here, all seasons. Lots of well maintained biking and walking trails, a beach, paddle board and kayak rentals, and more. We live in between here, French and weaver lake parks, and love them all. A great summer spot that can feel like you’re not near the cities.. and in the winter, ice fishing and snowshoeing are options. A few years ago they had the polar plunge at Fish Lake, which was a blast. Check it out!
Maple Grove Forest Preservation Area B

A great local protected area, with some short hilly trails. Particularly nice if you live locally and can walk here, otherwise the parking situation isn’t the best on a busier day (which fortunately doesn’t happen often). Also recommend for snowshoeing or dog walking. As with other posts, the only big complaint is the awful development that popped up right along the border. I’d give it 5 stars.. but a bunch of unsightly million dollar homes right next door do lessen the appeal.
Central Park of Maple Grove

I’ve been bringing the kids here for several years now and they still love this park. It has activities for all ages and is open all seasons with a large modern playground, splash pad, and ice skating loop. Also has excellent nearby walking trails, a pickle ball court, basketball hoops, and a large grassy field. I would’ve loved this place as a kid!
South Elm Road Park

5 stars mainly for the surrounding trails and large open field. Playground quality… meh. But it’s close by and my daughters still like it after 4 years, so there you go.
Plymouth Creek Park

Nice park for both kids and leashed dogs. Enough unique features to set it apart (slightly) from many other parks in the area. Plenty of parking. Only downside is the bathroom situation… they were locked and the port-a-potty was disgusting.
