Reviews
When returning to a much loved fine dining restaurant after several years, there’s always that nagging concern that it won’t be quite as wonderful as you remembered. On this occasion my worries were unfounded as this was perhaps even greater an experience than I had hoped for.
I’d forgotten to mention in advance my wife’s new and quite extensive list of food intolerances and the staff dealt with this without batting an eyelid. The 5-course lunch menu was amazing, we were visited by the famous Steirereck trolleys (bread and cheese), which produce a Pavlovian response from my salivary glands and the wine pairing was excellent too.
This restaurant has been top 25 in the world for several years now and it thoroughly deserves that recognition.

Had a great time eating here! Atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. The food was very good and service was very good as well.
Based on other recommendations we decided to try this place and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Highly recommended. And a huge thanks to the owner for the schnapps 👍👍👌👌👌
The best schnitzel in Vienna. Fast and good service, great meal and local atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting👍
The place is located very centrally, and easily accessible.
The menu is good, and the staff very polite.
Unfortunately, what I ordered though was decent, but didn't pass as value for money for me. Nevertheless, it is worth trying.

I’m Austrian and I visited with my spanish friend as they wanted to go. This place is below average in terms of food (there are better places around) and extremely expensive for what you get. The interior is traditional and waiters are friendly though.
I went because this is one of the oldest restaurants in Europe. The atmosphere was nice but the food was a little bit expensive and was not as good as I expected. The homemade bread and butter was very nice thought. I would go for the experience.
Fantastic and super enjoyable experience. We've ordered the 6-course menu and since you can choose different options for the courses it turns out to be a 12-couse tasting menu if you share. Very creative with great service and a little explanation card for each course. The bread and cheese carts are fenomenal!
Lucky find on Google which completely warranted its 4.7 rating. We were lucky enough to secure a table without having to reserve a table beforehand. The place is small and ( potentially seat up approx 25 - 30 people) was quite busy with only 2 staff ( 1 serving, manning the till, taking orders and preparing food, the other was doing the cooking)
We ordered the trio of schnitzels with potato salad as well as the roast pork with crackling with bread dumplings- both were quite tasty and was cooked properly. Pricing was quite reasonable also
We ordered a Kaiserschmarnn for take away, which is delicious
Would recommend this place for sure when in Vienna, Austria!

Excellent food in the heart of town. Staff was rushing a bit but ok and the place itself is a bit plain. But the food was really good and the beer was also really good. Can't complain and definitely recommend it.

This was by far the high point on our trip to Salzburg. This place is all about fine dining. From the moment we got there, there was a great ambience, people where outside having warm wine, and live music was playing. As we got taken to our table, we where greeted by Andy, who could have not been more amazing. He made exquisite and well thought out recommendations, brought the somelier who brought incredible wines that matched perfectly our meal. I have no idea why this place is not in the michellin guide. Thank you for everything, we enjoyed every second of it.
Amazing local food, friendly employees and where do you get an apple juice with water 0,5 liters for 2,40 EUR 👍🏻
We stumbled into this place and it did not disappoint. I had the pumpkin risotto and my husband had fried sausage/ pickled cabbage/ fries. It was so yummy- this was one of my top sit down meals in Austria. The staff were so kind and friendly.
This is a place you walk to there is no parking that I’m aware of.

Vielen Dank!

This is the best 2 stars restaurant I have tried so far. Services was wonderful, but food was completely exceptional. Bread was great too. We loved the blood bread so much even if it was our first try.
Nothing to complain here. Only complements.

The location is historic, it seems the building has gone through repair and bit of modification, nothing special about the menu or food, in fact you could definitely find more choice of food and variety with less time spending on reservation.
It would be highly suggested to visit the place but choose to dine in near by local restaurants, if in Christmas season, you would definitely want to enjoy the variety of food and delicacy by local shop owner, for fraction of cost.
The total experience was just fine and off our check list for the oldest world restaurant.

Absolutely delicious, perfect for cold winters. The ‘creamy fusilli with kale’ was light and creamy with a hint of caraway. The ‘creamy lentils’ had a stronger flavour and spice to it. I highly recommend both! The only thing I didn’t like was the drink matcha lemon soda cannot recall name..
Excellent fine dining Austrian restaurant option in Vienna. From the moment you walked in you are warmly welcomed by a friendly staff who seated us rite away. It offers a tasting menu as well as a la carte option. We selected a la carte and weren’t disappointed. Every dish is carefully prepared and presented. Great ambience and attention to every detail. Highly recommended if you want to experience a great dining experience in Vienna.
Great venue for dining. I was there with friends during the festive season, and we were all impressed by the ambiance and the meals. The goulash deserves special mention for its perfect preparation and tasty sauce. The schnitzel and spätzle didn’t disappoint either. Recommended
The 7-Course menu was a wonderful experience. The cheese, bread, and wine sommeliers were outstanding and exceptionally knowledgeable about their fields. It is truly one of the best dinners I have ever had the honor of experiencing.
Food that goes directly to your heart and reminds of the traditional flavors, with a touch of modern. This is just the place that Vienna needed desperately, and the kind that we’ve long been looking for!
Cozy, small place with the right atmosphere and food selection. Great quality, fairly priced. Expect to find a different menu every few days! But don’t worry, I bet you’ll leave with a full tummy & a happy heart.
The best part? Seeing the chef cooking the dishes on the spot, tasting and feeling, how good cooking is all about.

Popped in for lunch after seeing Cafe Central had at least an hour line ... outside in winter. Wonderful food and atmosphere, very friendly staff, local tourists. Glad we went there instead. Had a local wild meat stew and the chefs special of the day. Both delicious.
Great wee place for tasty, wholesome food. I had the roast pork which was delicious, and filled me up well after a long, chilly day of travel. There were also good vegetarian options which had me tempted!
The staff were really friendly, spoke very good English but were also patient when I wanted to practice my German.

(Kleine Empfehlung, besser Reservieren vorher 😉)

A local friend recommended this place and I have to say that we were more than amazed. Everything was homemade and very delicious. The owner was more than great and we had a really nice personal exchange. I highly recommend this place!
The food is Great and they change the menu every few days. We went there twice during our stay in Vienna and both times we were super Happy. The price is also very good for the centre of Vienna, one main dish is between 9 and 12 €. If we come to Vienna again this would definitely be our go to place for dinner.
The food was very delicious
I took the roasted goos, it is in season and it was good
The pork schnitzel was also good and the hamburger was very good.
Service kind and welcoming

In addition to being a beautiful and very pleasant space, we can enjoy excellent service, very friendly and the food is very tasty and very well prepared. The homemade bread and caramelized butter is something that alone makes it worth it. It is without a doubt a place to return to.
A great restaurant in Salzburg! Must try! The food is fantastic, we had the tuna tartar, veal steak and truffle pasta. Service is also good, friendly, helpful and attentive. The ambiance is rustic, relaxing and very clean. The restaurant also has a long prestigious history. Remember to order Peter spritz.
Tolles altes Ambiente. Haben eine eigene Metzgerei. Die Käsekreiner ein Traum. Fünf Scheiben Brot dazu für nur €0,80. Service top. Selbst als alles voll war haben die die Übersicht behalten, und sofort gefragt ob man noch was will. Große Auswahl an Bieren.
Super leckeres Schnitzel, sehr netter Service.

A great restaurant under a historical building. It was the best schnitzel I have ever eaten in my life. Additionally, the Austrian style potato salad I ate with it was also very delicious. 🤤
We had their signature dish, roast pork with crackling bread crumbling, and they did not fail! The potato dunplings were infused with the pork flavour and easy to the platelet. The bread crumblings tasted like crispy pork skins and they were fantastic. The server and the cook were both very friendly and speak English well. Fully recommend this place for a full meal or for a quick bite!
They've been around since the 800s so it makes sense that they'd have good food! The restaurant opens for lunch, closes, and then opens for dinner. I highly recommend you make reservations for your visit because it is very popular. For lunch you can walk in for a table without trouble. Dinner, you can't. The seating is pretty much all outdoors but covered by a concrete or uncovered in a courtyard. It's all open air. If you don't want to pay the high menu prices stick to deserts because they're very good, especially the apple strudel. Skip the soups. Staff is nice and does speak English.
Authentic local place for a drink and good quality Austrian food. We came with our 2 year old son and whilst it isn't a family friendly restaurant in the sense of having a children's menu, baby changing facilities etc., the waiter was incredibly kind and generous in taking care of us. An experience we will remember!
The Döner is okay, but not great. The cleanliness of the place is not great. The durum bread was not properly cooked
Great Viennese food! Welcoming hosts and team was attentive, and the timing was great. Can be slow when very busy but not an annoyance. Location is great and the restaurant itself is great! Food is great, perfect schnitzel and potatoes! Affordable and the dessert was excellent! Always reserve before coming as the line can be very long.
I had Goulash and it was really good. Highly recommend. The service was good with friendly staff.
The atmosphere was really cool.

They definitely have earned their two Michelin Stars. The most beautiful building right in the park.
We had an amazing Anniversary dinner that we will never forget.

What an experience!
I dined at Steirereck 10 years ago with my parents and went back last week on Sep 18. They never disappointed me. My partner and I had a wonderful 5 course lunch with a bottle of red wine. The bill came over 600 euros but it was worthy every single penny. Every dish was tasty and outstanding with artistic presentation. The service was just excellent. Highly recommend it.

Walking around the beautiful innere Stadt of Vienna with the only aim to eat Viennese food was very well achieved at Stadtgraben. Located in a prime location. The food and ambience was just perfect. Server was nice enough to suggest his favourite and it did not disappoint. The dish was well seasoned and the cold beer was the cherry on top on a warm summer day. Would definitely recommend.
The food was OK, we ordered Schnitzel and Truffle soup, we tried both the Veal and Chicken schnitzel, they taste almost the same, I liked the chicken slightly more, the soup has a strong truffle taste which I didn't like a lot.
The service was good except that at the end the waiter asked for a tip and added 10% as a tip without asking me the amount I wanted to tip.

The place is nice. Ordered the boiled beef. It was a bit salty but compared with other Viennese restaurant, I think it was ok. The portion was ok. There's no bone marrow in the soup and not much vegetables in the soup. The rolled horseradish was heavy.
Place was one minute from the Wedding Statue. Multiple vegetarian options. I got cabbage with pasta and truffle oil, and the boss got pasta with King Mushrooms. This is a cool, cozy place, and the food is excellent. Our server spoke perfect English and was great at explaining all vegetarian options. Great place.
Located by the historic St Peters Church, this is one of the oldest restaurants in town. Atmospheric, stylish place with great food and service. Everything we tried was delicious, served fast and with a custom presentation. We had goulash and chicken, cucumber soup, burata, wine and a few cocktails. Not cheap but reasonably priced.
Gut bürgerliche österreichische Küche. Essen war sehr lecker.
I definitely impressed try choosing glazed veal liver - it was the best one in my life .. I really don’t regret I did not try much schnitzel.. my husband also was not impressed .. but desert really was good .. certainly recommend )
I enjoyed my wiener schnitzel and apple strudel. The menu may not be extensive (and there was no goulash the day I visited), but the food was freshly prepared and very good. Choice of local wines by the glass, all priced between 4 and 5 euro. Definitely stop by and scan the menu if you're in the neighbourhood. Value was fair.
Nice restaurant but a little too quiet if you go during noon like me.
Also they didn't have one dish, goulash, in the menu because 3 pm was too late as they told me.
That surprised me a lot.

The staff was very unfriendly and the food was tasteless. I had high expectations as it was my first time trying Austrian food, but I was very disappointed. The wine was also served in a very dirty cup and tasted bad. I would not recommend going to this restaurant.
Sehr Nettes Lokal mit für die Region Typischen Speisen. 🇦🇹

The winner schnitzel was extremely tender, but the potatoes accompanying it were incredible. We also tried the wild boar schnitzel and it did not disappoint, the taste is on point.
The schintzel and the deep fried chicken were delicious! A bit on the expensive side, but I think it's worth it. Highly recommended only if you book in advance, as the waiting time in the queue can be quite long.
The owner is a person with a big heart.. This is not fancy place, but people are coming because of atmosphere and friendly attention of the owner. Croissant was the best )) thank you for attention and deep discussion ❤️ all the best..
Great location, very nice and relaxing vibe. The food was not what I expected (had the shnitzel veal but prefer chicken), but truffle mayonnaise was very tasty! The salad is simple with a delicious sauce and comes as a side dish for some meals such as the Austrian pasta.
4/5- food was very good, service was friendly and professional and Atmosphere was nice.
We were promptly seated inside (no reservation), the external garden seating area is most popular but be sure to make a reservation- not available for us. Inside there was some background music and the restaurant was busy but not too loud. Perfect for conversation.
The service was professional and friendly. Meals were served in a timely manner considering the steak cooking/rest time.
I ordered the Tafelspitz, my daughter had the Fillet steak, and my wife had the chicken salad. The Tafelspitz (my first time eating) was very tasty, but did not have the traditional bone marrow -but overall a very nice dish. My daughters steak was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, and very tender. My wife’s chicken salad was also nice.
We paid €105 (with a tip) for the three of us a no alcohol.

Reservierung sinnvoll.

If you in Wien don’t forget to order at least 1 mount before ! Enjoyed there very much and I do waiting to visit again - Chapeau team ! 🏆
I came to Austria to experience the 13th restaurant in the world. I booked eight people for lunch. When I arrived, I was told that I couldn’t order a lunch set, so the whole lunch didn’t end until 3:30 pm. The overall creativity of dishes and sauces is satisfactory.
Cozy place with traditional food, opens also on Mondays. Very simple food. Salad was with sand. It was very very hot inside.
Quick service, tasty Turkish foods. Specially the Lahmacun was unique and delicious. I have never seen this serving style of it. Good job 👌👌
Had one of the best dining experiences of my life at Steirereck today that I felt compelled to leave a review. I did the 4 course lunch tasting. From the moment I sat down, the hospitality was palpable. Every dish I ordered was superb and the perfect amount of food for me to enjoy every single course until dessert. The Roebuck (main course) was a highlight, with the Young Celeriac (starter) a close second.
Amazing traditional food! The cold meat and cheese platter is a must try! The kitchen closes at 9pm so be sure to make it there before that to place your order :)
Having such high expectations based of the long standing accolades and awards for this establishment I am disappointed and frustrated to have to write such a negative review. I have been to many Michelin restaurants and I have never left so underwhelmed. This would be my least favorite Michelin restaurant and chef’s menu, to date.
1) The total dining experience was over 4 hours. While I am in no rush, I found no desire to stay as long as we were there. Had there been dishes or an experience that peaked my interest I’d be happy to stay this long. We did not have the first course till after an hour and fifteen. The courses were spaced anywhere from 20-40 minutes apart after last bite of previous course. We were utterly bored.
1A) While service wasn’t bad, the attentiveness was not there. At Michelin caliber restaurants I expect the table to be immaculate and cleaned after each meal, this never occurred. This is picky, but it’s what to be expected at this level of restaurant.
2) The food was flat, nothing stood out to me and while it had many ingredients that I was excited to try together I did not find any complexity to the dishes. There have been Michelin restaurants where I remember specific dishes, there was unfortunately not one tonight. I found the plating and presentation of the food repetitive, it was the same presentation for each dish, the server would spoon out of a measuring cup for each dish (this is picky, but part of these dining experiences is the art of presentation and it felt lazy)
3) The wine pairings, while not bad, were very similar. I expect exciting different elements to compliment the dishes, did not feel it was adequate.
I am sorry to have to write this review and I am hopeful that this was an off night or week (although a restaurant of this caliber and rating should not have this).

Wonderful experience. Lovely service. Simple, delicious and comforting food. Welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended as it’s off the beaten path as well.
Rustic but a beautiful cozy place! Fireplace adds to its charm. Nice ambience, delicious food, fantastic service, helpful staff, what else is needed for a wonderful evening. Fantastic concept of grill your own meat on black stone grill. Highly recommended if you are in Salzburg.
I had high expectations for this 2 star Michelin restaurant but it was disappointing. The outside and location inside the park probably contributed to the extra star. It is nice inside but the table we had was awkward with and view of the serving carts and had a hanging bulb since the overhead light was broken. Shocked to see the service done with rolling carts. The wine server was rushing from table to table placing down bottles, quickly rambling the type of wine and taste pairings then running off. He would come back and pick up the bottles two minutes later. Service was not close to two star quality. The 6 courses were good but nothing impressive or unique. This is a one star restaurant in a two star location.
What a wonderful night at Steirereck. The flavours were beautiful, the plating was elegant, the wine pairings were magical. Service was seamless and kind. An unforgettable experience.
Arrived with no reservation and , despite being busy, the owner found us a space. Food was delicious. So was the beer - best I had in Vienna ! A typical Austrian menu and appeared popular with local people..
the Dürüm wrapping is amazing
One of the biggest and most delicious original Wiener Schnitzel I have ever eaten and it was done really fast. Nice waiters, cool atmosphere, restaurant located in a quiet, historical, Austrian street. No more words needed:).
Quiet and cozy bar.
Delicious durum, friendly staff
Great owner and super place !!
Still one of the best restaurants in Vienna. It stands by it's reputation as having the best sourbrauten (sp) in Vienna. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, very Aesthetically pleasing. Service is impeccable and stands on its own always.
Nice place, will visit again, Vicki speaks Greek that was fun :)
Amazing traditional Beisl. Authentic Austrian dishes and wine, all served with a smile. A local tavern frequented by many Viennese. Highly recommended.
Nasty!! Absolutly no hygene.
We ordered meatballs , which smelled funny and tasted weird. Me and my husband had to vomit , approximately half hour after eating some of the food .

My favorite coffee place. Greeks are famous for their hospitality and Christos is proving it!
Very delicious Döner, fair price and nice employees. Good price. Recommended!
Visited this restaurant for lunch today and it looked quiet with not a lot of customers there but it was brilliant. The food was authentic and tasted very nice. The staff was on hand always and was very helpful. The pricing was very reasonable and I'd recommend to anyone.
Best place in Vienna for beer. Mr Christos uber alles
Enjoyed the lunch special 3 course meal. Started with a soup with croutons, then pork schnitzel with salad and to finish an apple strudel. Probably the beat meal and value we got in Vienna as it was ~€19 per person for the special. Didn’t realise smoking was allowed inside and didn’t see any designated smoking areas as we would’ve sat elsewhere, but nonetheless would still recommend all lunch travellers to visit!
Good traditional meal. Quality local food and some dishes are suitable for vegetarians. They have lemon & charcoal cheese that I highly recommend. Staff are friendly and speak english. Card payments accepted from 20€. House wine comes in a small glass - funny 😁
Wasn't overly impressed with this place, it's really more for snacks or a super casual catch up. It's a barebones kind of place, quite spacious and was easy to get a seat without any booking or wait.
Great for an Imbiss, remember you're not in Mcdonald an all will be fine.
Huge sausage platters and great beer and wine selection. Great place to spend a few hours with friends. The staff is warm and full of recommendations. Make sure to call ahead for a table, especially on weekends.
Good atmosphere. Cheap prices
