Manuel at San Jose airport is wonderful help. He went above and beyond to change my reservation and accommodate one way car rental instead of dropping same location because of Airline issues.

Adobe Car Rental San Jose was one of the smoothest processes I’ve had in renting. They delivered the car to the hotel and the return was quick and easy. I would use them again, maybe just get a car with a little more getup in the engine. Thanks Adobe

Writing this as a cautionary note for renting with this company because of our experience. We rented a car with Adobe out of San Jose for one week in June, we drove up to Monteverde, Manuel Antonio and back to San Jose. Heading towards Manuel Antonio we were rear-ended while at a stop sign by (ironically enough) a group that were also renting their car from Adobe, who were self-admittedly not paying attention. We all pulled over and after making sure their car didn’t have damage they left the scene. Our group called the emergency line that Adobe provided us as we weren’t sure if we should leave the scene without filing a report with the police since our car did have damage to the rear bumper and were told by the man we spoke with that as no one was injured and the car was still drivable we could leave. We filed a report with him, gave him the information of the car and the people that hit us and were told that was all we needed to do.

When we returned the car in San Jose a few days later, we were charged $600 for the cracks in the back bumper. We had paid for Adobe’s insurance plan, we weren’t at fault in the accident, we reported it with all the information we had and were still charged for the damage.

All in all, I would not rent with this company again. Yes the prices are cheaper compared to other rental agencies, but in a country like Costa Rica were most American credit cards don’t insure rental cars you’re fully at the mercy of Adobe’s insurance agreement, which is basically useless unless the car is totaled. They will make you pay for the damage even if you weren’t at fault.

Danniel was fantastic at the airport and everybody was so welcome. Nice is it going explain themselves very well it was the best service that I had excellent customer service.

Avoid this company if at all possible.

The car was good, the price was about the same as everyone else.

They changed the pick up time on us.

Then refused to accept my government issued licence, that was in date and valid, as such my partner had to drive the car.

Whilst the return office was staffed, the receptionist apparently couldn't do anything for us until the manager arrived 20 minutes later.

We were given 3 different times for the return of our deposit, each longer than the last (3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks).

They seemed to find it strange when we asked for a receipt or proof we were owed a deposit, this then took forever to organise.

Again, avoid this company if at all possible, .

Quick and easy service, the car I rented for the day was an economy manual and it drove like a charm and was very clean inside. The staff went above the usual and showed me where the emergency kit and tire were (self-explanatory BUT it was a nice touch for them to not just assume), and they also provided their direct phone number in case of trouble. After I dropped off the car they even offered to drive my to my final destination which was a mile down the road, which was very kind. Very welcoming staff, definitely will utilize this place again if I'm ever in Límon in the future.
Full-service fuel station is very close so it's easy to fill up prior to returning the car.
