A great place to go back to history and immerse in the glorious past. The exhibits are priceless. It's quite big so need a lot of time to see everything. The restaurant was quite cool too.
Great Chinese history back to a few thousand years, so amazing words can hardly describe, you have to see it to believe it, calligraphy, handicraft and more..... All are well presented. One of the best history collections in the world, I strongly recommended and it's a must visit attraction.
Great place to visit, you can easily spend couple of hours there, lots to see. There is no need to book tickets in advance, no queue for walk ins. There is a nice little garden in the back.
you can take bus no R30 from shilin station, it drop right before the entrance inside. If you are student in taiwan, you can enter for free, it's big place, there 3 floors i think. There is also a Muslim prayer room after you exited from the display area, in B1, and there is ablution place inside.
You can go outside and get a good view from above.

Great museum with lots of artifacts and history of Taiwan. A great place to visit and learn. The overall area is beautiful and they have a nice garden and pond area to walk at. Went on a Saturday so it was a bit busy just be prepared of you plan on a weekend visit.
A hot spring museum that has no entrance fee which explains the history of hot spring in Beitou. It mentions the 3 kinds of suplur rock which attribute to the hot springs found in Japan and Taiwan. A good visit when in Beitou. There is a queue to enter and exit because of the need to remove your shoes and use the in house slippers.
Third time to Taiwan. This is a must! Lots of history preserved here and very well exhibited! Pottery, manuscripts, maps. So much to see. Take the better part of a day to explore then spend some time in the gardens!
This museum takes us back in time to when hot springs baths shops began in Taiwan/Beitou. The museum offers a number of interactive features showing how people enjoyed the hot springs baths in historic times. There are displays showing how people dined and lived in Beitou. A great place to experience the past in Beitou.
interesting free museum. lots of information and interactive games to help you understand their culture and how this district revived. must take off shoes and change into slippers when enter. many photo taking areas and history behind this area. kids friendly!
During my visit to Beitou Hotspring Museum in December, the freezing temperatures outside made me appreciate the warmth and comfort of the hot springs even more. One of the best parts about this museum is that it's completely free of charge, making it accessible to everyone who wants to learn more about the history and significance of the hotsprings in Beitou.
As I entered the museum, I was greeted by friendly volunteers who kindly instructed me to take off my shoes before entering. This added a touch of authenticity and respect to the experience. The museum itself is incredibly informative, providing visitors with a wealth of knowledge about the hotsprings, their geological origins, and their cultural importance in Taiwan.
Beyond the educational aspect, the museum also offers a variety of activities to engage visitors. The size of the area allows for plenty of space to explore and interact. I particularly enjoyed the interactive displays and exhibits that allowed me to fully immerse myself in the hotspring experience.
Additionally, the museum provided ample opportunities for the perfect Instagram-worthy picture. The picturesque surroundings and stunning architecture of the museum make it a great spot to capture memorable moments.
Overall, I would rate my experience at Beitou Hotspring Museum a 9.5 out of 10. The combination of educational content, engaging activities, and beautiful surroundings make it a must-visit destination when in Beitou.

A well maintained museum documenting all minute details on Beitou hot springs and culture. Free entry. But there is a queue and you need to change your shoes.
Free entry! It's a small museum, but really beautiful and calm. You have to take off your shoes and put them in the lockers, and they'll provide common slippers to use. Really liked the wide straw mat seating area there, enjoyed just quietly sitting there and soaking in the atmosphere for some time.
Historic building commemorating Beitou’s Hot spring culture.
The museum covers topics from history of Beitou’s to discovery of the hot spring and how they were developed to the downfall and disrepair of the area to the construction of the current museum. Museum features two levels without an elevator so the bottom floor isn’t accessible. There are plenty of plaques in English (and Chinese) so would definitely recommend a visit.
Visitors have to remove their shoes, which can be stored in a free locker, and walk around in provided sandals.

If you’re into philately then it’s a must visit in Taipei. Closes early at 5 PM and staff speaks mandarin mostly so keep a translation app handy. Don’t forget to stamp postcards on the different floors. You can buy stamps from reception and write postcards to yourself or friends and family.
This museum is definitely in the top three that I have ever been to. I arrived just after opening on a weekday. No line. Purchased my ticket, rented an audio headset, and walked in. Workers were very friendly and helpful. It was suggested that I begin on the top floor and work my way down. The museum is very spacious, clean, well organized, with exhibits divided by time periods and categories with sone interactive displays. I would definitely recommend this museum as it was one of my highlights visiting Taipei.
Amazing museum of Asian art and culture. So many beautiful pieces from China that date back many centuries. With works in stone, bronze, ceramic, and many beautiful works of art and calligraphy, there is a lot to see. The Jade cabbage might be the famous piece here but there is so much more to see. The self guided tour headset is worth getting and is useful no matter what order you visit the exhibits.
Super cheap at 1$ usd for adults to visit! This is a great place to learn about Taiwanese history. The park surrounding the museum is also fun for the kids to explore. The basement of this museum is super cool and very kid friendly. I love seeing the ancient costumes of the Taiwanese people. There are many zoo animals, fish ecosystem, paintings..: I was going to skip this sight but I am so glad we went
Incredible museum to learn more about Taiwan. The museum is not very big but it has 4 levels to be explored. The entrance ticket itself is only $30, I spent about 2 hours there.
We stayed nearby this area and we decided to swing by. It was actually a pretty cool park with some pagodas. The museum itself is only $1 for admission and we spent around 45 minutes in there. The basement has lots of kids interactive activities.
Small museum, with a pretty cheap ticket that allows you to visit the one across the street for free. You can spend at most 1 hour here so it’s recommended if you have some time and want to squeeze in another attraction. The museum is organized and interesting. Would recommend but totally skippable
Great place to learn about 228 Incident. They have English translations as well as a summary booklet available in a few languages to read about the Incident and the events following. No fee to enter but also couldn't see anywhere to donate. I might have missed this. All in all, worth a visit!
Free admission. Take off your shoes at the entrance and the staff will lead you to the locker to put your shoes, change into slippers and retrieve the antique wooden locker key with your locker number on it.
The museum is two storey and you can leisurely finish walking around in 30minutes or so. Good info on the history of Beitou Hot Spring area. Worth a visit.

If you want to know more deeper about Taiwan like a flora, fauna, people, history and etc. The ticket was pretty cheap, just 30$ NT. There are 4 floors and 2 museum. The first musem is all about Taiwan, and the second located in front of the first museum is about the history of Land Bank and dinosaurs. If you are in Taipei, you must go there!
Took my son with me, drove in an electric scooter no need for driver license if u use electric scooter. Parked in the scooter parking lot. Was very good to get to and to my surprise we both got inside for free because we're both Taiwan citizens and my son is student and I'm disabled. Both presented the IDs needed and got free entrance when normally it would cost over 250 Taiwan dollar per person for tourists. The displays were very interesting all antiques. No food or drinks allowed. There's drinking water fountain inside just bring your empty bottle to fill it up inside. Had walked into all the displays on all floors and was exhausted. This place would be a favorite place for those who loves antiques. Be ready to walk over 4 hrs. To be able to finish the whole building.
Not that big museum and actually the ticket (30TWD, about 1USD) gives you access to two buildings, one across from each other. The main building is about Taiwan history, the second building more like a natural science museum.
Some of the display pieces have only Chinese explanation but for a tourist is still worth visiting.

The history of NTU is compiled here!
Great place for NTU students or any exhange student to come here and learn more about NTU!

Very nice museum with many beautiful peaces of art. If you are passionate about I would suggest to book an audio guide or a guide.
The AC temperature could be rise up a bit. IT was very cold inside especially when outside is 40 degrees. . I suggest you to bring a jumper.

This is a must visit attraction if you are coming to Taipei. With 3 storeys of exhibits, do plan with minimum of 2 hours before coming over. Additional duration if you are bringing any elders.
There's couple of souvenir shops n a nice cafe which we had our lunch break b4 we continue the tour.
Do bring a windbreaker or jacket as the AC are pretty chilling.

I came to Taipei in 2018 and the museum was undergoing renovations
It's been 5 years and it's still not open

An incredible museum! Amazing layout and beautifully presented information. The basement is amazing for kids. The rest is wonderful. Highly recommend visiting! For 30NT this place is an absolute bargain. Even just to get out of the heat for a few hours!
Very interesting museum about the 228 crimes. Don’t forget to pick the english guide book on the way inz
Why do you close at 5pm? It is too early.
Beautiful museum with amazing artifacts brought from China. The government at the time wanted to protect these artifacts from the Japanese invasion and from the cultural revolution which was destroying many of the Chinese past cultures.
I loved the paintings.
Check out the ivory ball made; it has several concentric spheres all made out of one single piece of ivory.
Do not forget to visit the cavage and pork meat sculptures; they are really beautiful and well made.

A treasure trove of Chinese history, culture, and literary excellence! I recommend visiting the old manuscripts room; I believe it is on the museum's first floor. The books there are stunning works of art! The jade on the third floor of the museum is also gorgeous.
An absolute can't miss if you are vacationing in Taipei. The facilities are impeccably kept. The exhibits are frequently updated and rotated. This was my third visit and first in over ten years. The museum has done an amazing job of keeping up with the times and incorporating VR and high-tech visual display elements in showcasing the essence of Chinese art and artefacts. The staff are super friendly and helpful!
Excellent experience even for foreigners. Cool airconditioning and not a lot of people make for an good stop over for a slow day.
So exciting to see the stamps of countries, as well as stamps dedicated to specific things such as space and rare maps. Make sure to check out the Children's floor on the 4F for an interactive good time.
The entrance ticket you get is also a postcard!

The National Palace Museum in Taiwan is a must-visit for all tourists in Taipei. The museum presents an amazing and comprehensive display of Chinese history and culture. However, visitors should be prepared for the extremely cold temperature inside the museum - bringing a small jumper or jacket is recommended.
The staff at the National Palace Museum are super nice and helpful, and everything is presented in English, making it easy for non-Chinese speakers to understand and appreciate the exhibits. While audio tours are available, it's better to read the descriptions as the audio spots are limited even in the English language.
The museum is also an excellent destination for families with children. There is an interactive children's book available at the entrance, and the museum has spots and activities all over for kids to learn and play. Many families with children have enjoyed the museum, thanks to its engaging and educational exhibits. Overall, the National Palace Museum is a great place to learn about Chinese history and culture, and it's an experience that shouldn't be missed.

The museum was beautiful. Outside, there’s a very nice garden and it just felt grand, especially with the way the building was designed. And the view of the mountain tops was gorgeous.
The collection inside the museum is very organized. I enjoyed looking at the artifacts a lot. There are items from different dynasties, even a few things from before the common era.
The place is also very accessible, PWD and seniors included.

They have a special exhibit on the various flowers and plants in the postage stamps. Good to pay a visit if you are in the area just right next to the old city gate.
Very interesting museum. Entrance is free. Basic information are displayed in English, and more is supposedly available online. I just wished some more information were translated in English.
Amazing place! If I remember correctly, tickets for adults are $30NT each and for students above 6, $10NT. The exhibits are well curated but the highlight is the basement section specifically for children. The kids spent more than an hour there learning about rock formations, insects, history of Taiwan and even got to play dress up in their traditional costumes! Highly recommended :)
Originally, we didn’t really want to visit it because we thought that this museum may have exhibitions full of sad stories of memories.
The good thing is that the building itself has so much to say because it’s also well-maintained and the interior design is elegant and slight feeling of grandeur.
At the time of our visit, one of the exhibitions is for the paintings of a famous artist who is also a victim of the 228 event.
In general, visitors can finish their visit in around an hour, and it’s free for no tickets are required.

Important history presented effectively. I felt like I learned a lot and left wanting to know more.
Almost all of the signage is presented in Chinese only. Those who do not read Chinese should bring headphones; there are audio guides available via qr code in English, Japanese, and Korean for the entire permanent exhibit and some of the non permanent exhibit.
Following the English audio guide took a bit over an hour.

It's a good place to knowledge about religions around the world. Better not miss this museum if you have time, this place definitely will bring you wisdom.
I was intrigued by the idea of a museum that explores the world’s major religions and this museum did not disappoint. The exhibits are beautifully and thoughtfully done. Being from a different country and background, I was most interested in the explanation of Taiwanese popular religion. Travel is all about gaining a better understanding of different cultures, including spirituality, just as this museum aims to do.
My one piece of feedback is that because of the lack of exhibit explanations and film subtitles in languages other than Chinese, my experience was limited. If the point of the museum is to break down barriers between people, shouldn’t that included bridging gaps between nationalities, cultures and languages?

place to know about the beginnings of NTU
中華文化的偉大傳承,盡在故宫.
Amazing and good to look can feel fantastic
A museum post in taipei. Good welcome from receptionists.
Calligraphy. Go with an inquisitive mind. Enjoy the pretentious interpretations but marvel at the craftsmanship.
Manuscripts. Inspirational even for science fans. Galileo. Vesalius. Ptolemy. Wide ranging. Myth-busting viz history of (Gutenberg) printing.
Ceramics. Finally a framework for Ming and Qing. Some exquisite pieces. Would have liked a piece on commerce.

An educational and meaningful museum for visiting before the post office may be taken over by electronic media one day.
Thank you 李老師 for being an amazing tour guide for us and providing service in French language!
National Palace Museum (国立故宫博物院) has huge collection of Chinese Kingdom. Very big and spend 3~5 hours to see the collections. entrance fee is 350 NTS. The Jadeite Cabbage is famous and meat shape stone. Can see the the picture ofJadeite Cabbage, as it was displayed to other museum at the time. At the 4th floor there's restaurant and you can try dim-sums, noodles and fried rice with tea or coffe but no so cheap..
What a nice building, looks pretty old and full of history too.
Informative and engaging displays. Very interesting to learn about the history of the postal system and see many commemorative stamps. Fun children's area open too.
I lived in Taipei a decade ago for few years, I have never known this place until visited it this year.
Classic restored building giving whole new feeling to a big and busy city.

A must visit place to get to know about the history of all the religions. There are miniatures of various Famous religious places. You can also read about the beginning and history of each religion. There is a special screening event as well. Kid zone is also present. I really like the handprint concept.
It’s the traumatic history this island should never ever forget. It’s a place to visit if you want to know the sophisticated relationship between the peoples on the island.
For a dollar, a cool museum. Museum is opened from level 2-6 and offers stamps from around the world!
🏛️ It was my first experience visiting a museum of various religions around the world. They have some volunteers there, who are willing to guide us around the museum (most will use Chinese language). However, there are some descriptions in English as well. It takes around 1-2 hours to walk around the museum.
💰 NT$300 (10% discount for student), with access of a special exhibition about life and death that was held now. The special exhibition was quite short though.
🏃🏻 The museum building located next to Beyond Plaza entrance. It takes around 10-mins walking from MRT Dingxi station.

Beautiful colonial era building which some uses for wedding photoshoot. Can also see some interesting chalk drawing on the pavement. The place is very empty especially comparing to the water park that’s crowded with kids in summer. A decent place to have a short walk but doesn’t really have much to offer beyond that.
Not too crowded (I believe because its raining outside). The lady and man on ticket counter were really helpful, they can speak basic English and inform me about student discount. Track behind the museum also well maintained. All in all it is okay to visit this museum if you have more time in Taipei, but it’s not a kind of must visit museum.
This museum comprises a big collection of mainland China handicraft such as bronze sculptures, porcelaine, and water based paintings. These reliques date from several dinasties. You can really appreciate though this collection how a civilization evolved economically, politically and culturally. I really recommend to visit this museum when you are in Taipei.
Furthermore, it has a beautiful, small lotus lake and a big garden at the back with endemic flowers which you can enjoy through a calming walk.
Inside the museum there is a restaurant which menu looks pretty delicious.
More relevant, on the last floor there's a tea house which offers the best tea I've ever tried. This is a must go visit.
In the same area, there's this school for learning handicraft and a radio broadcasting station. All of them you can visit and it's worthy as the building's architecture is very traditional and colorful.

Interesting place to see some history about Taipei’s fresh water system, a nice place to visit, not too crowd
The current display when I went there have a theme of Covid-19. Wherein most of the stamps have faces of different people from different places wearing mask. The building itself is well preserved.
Hidden on the second floor of the North Gate Post Office is the so-called North Gate Branch of the Postal Museum. Called a museum, in fact, there are no museum specifications, a waste of government space, and no practical planning. Maybe it's more like a toy amusement park, not worth visiting.
The museum’s staff is very helpful and friendly. There were no people during my visit. I truly enjoy the atmosphere and the exhibits captured all of my attention. I can’t even express my feelings. It’s like a had a trip into the ancient time through the history of the major religions.
There was no guide, but most of expositions have a QR-code with English and few other languages and some flyers with descriptions.
I was very amazed by this collection. It has really antic and probably unique stuff that you can’t see somewhere else.
Also was interesting to see the exposition about Taiwanese believes. But I guess there are also many local aboriginal stuff that were not represented here.
I assume that the museum expands it’s exhibits.
I saw some pictures on Google with the costumes. It will be great to see it too.
And I’d come here again.

Connected with anthropology museum, the museum is a hidden gem! The library on the second floor is especially beautiful!
Interesting place to learn the history of post. And they have post collections all over the world.
Ticket price is cheap ($10 for an adult). 2F to 6F are the areas of postal museum. Each floor has different exhibition theme.

Free entry. A nice memorial museum to learn the 228 history of Taiwan. The building itself is a beautiful piece. And they have some events held here.
Beautiful museum. A good place to understand history of NTU. Full of memories, also a good place for photographs.
Though small, it is a beautiful building especially when during cherry blossoms in early spring. There is a short trial behind the museum which can take you to the treasure hill.
We came here to sent our postcards and didn’t expect they have extensive postal theme museum. Which is an amazing experience and interesting knowledge gains.
There’s entrance fee of TW$10 but you get a free postcard.
There are several floors with different exhibitions and one floor dedicated for children to play. I personally love the worlds’ rare stamps section.
There are also albums full of stamps sets for customers to buy and avid stamp collectors definitely need to spare some budgets in here.

An unbiased and very beautifully laid out museum- linking all religious beliefs back to the source. It was worth using the English audio guide - but all the exhibits also had adequate English signage. Try and make sure you can be there for the 12 minute movie which shows the origins of the creation myths - 11.20 am, 13.20, 14.20, 15.20 and 16.20.
Every piece in the museum has been carefully thought out - even the wood used to make the benches have meaning attached to them with a little plaque used for explanation. If you take the time in the awakenings section on the 6th floor there are some beautiful snippets from people like Jane Goodall and Sr Sri Ravishankar. Check the website for the shuttle bus times or take a stroll from the nearest station.

I loved the museum. For the small space they were able to display many different religions. it's a great way to learn about different religions in the world in like an hour. the staff is very nice and there are English titles and handout for every exhibition as well. I totally recommend it!
I experienced a hard time to get to this place, walked all the way from Chiang Kai Sek Memorial Hall and walked through Taipei Botanical Garden; and when I got there, they're closed for renovations but this place looks nice from the outside
Beautiful campus. Museum has detailed information about Taiwan University and even touched a bit of the recent history, worth checking out while you are around.
It used to be a main drinking water treatment campus for then Taipe city. Nowadays has been transferred to a cultural and leisurely park.
The highlight spots is the baroque style building of the water treatment facilities museum which attracted a lot of wedding photographers.
The other one is the well maintained hill trail, secluded, quite and easy access.

Not only you can learn and play with your young one but also you can make personal stamp using your favourite photos in reasonable price!
Perfect public children waterpark! Cheap ticket for great water quality and fun facility. Plenty of roofed seating area, which is essential for the summer time in Taiwan. Come early at weekend and leave for lunch in the nearby neighborhood. Perfect wknd schedule!
First of all, i would say it is doubtlessly the best museum in the Chinese world and one of the top notch museums in on earth, based on the content on display. They display mainly the royal collection of treasures from Ming and Qing dynasty. The admission is really affordable at NT350 and it is a must go attraction for all tourists. The artifects are well organised, and you can wall through the building systematically. There is also an electronic audio guide that is available for rental at NT150. The souvenir shop sells gorgeous collectables and the restaurant beside it, 故宫晶华serves quality food.
Compared to other museums that Ive been to, this museum is a lot more smaller. Artworks and artifacts are limited.
When I visited, 2nd floor was closed due to renovation.
There's a cafe inside and an entrance fee of 15ND. You may still wanna drop by once for experience but can't be included in you itinerary.

I had a year abroad here, and it was one of the best years of my life. An amazing university, with brilliant facilities. It is unfortunate there is not a 6th star that i could give Taida, because it is excellent!
The museum is housed in a beautiful old building with a large garden. You will see lots of families playing here and photographers immortalizing their young models or their soon-to-be married couples here. There are several old machines on display, but we have no idea how they work. Nice place to hang out, but little educational value. A missed opportunity.
Must visit. Depending on time of the year there are different exhibitions on each of the 4 levels. Learnt a lot more about Taiwan history through photos and artifacts.
I thought that an hour would be enough to see the entire museum but I ended up staying for almost three hours. I was pleasantly surprised to see a comprehensive collection of postal artifacts not just from Taiwan but from many countries, including those that no longer exist (e.g., South Yemen). The interactive stamp designer, which lets you create a commemorative stamp with your picture in it, was a neat idea.
There is a small admission fee of 5 NT dollars. Most exhibits are described in both Chinese and English. All of the museum employees I interacted with have limited English.

Taiwan lacks a proper history museum dedicated to the cultural and political history of the island, particularly its recent history as the Republic of China. In place of such a museum is this one. Its permanent exhibitions include exquisite archaeological artifacts, but all are from the mainland. I thought the most relevant exhibition is the one on Taiwanese indigenous art called ”Amazing Homeland”, which only runs until early September 2017. The other exhibitions -- Picasso and Paris-inspired art -- are more European than Taiwanese.
I hope they can curate a more comprehensive collection that presents Taiwan’s rich history and highlights the country’s economic progress and democratic ideals.

Good museum that explains the events that led to the infamous Feb 28 massacre and the subsequent military rule of Taiwan that saw widespread human rights violations. The narrative is matter-of-factly and ends with a message of justice and reconciliation.
Most exhibits only have descriptions in Chinese. There are English audio guides at the reception for those who need them. The people working at the museum only speak Chinese. Admission is free.

This is a lovely museum of red brick walls and green tiled roofs. The museum's array of interesting collection comprises mainly Chinese cultural relics such as bronze ware, pottery and water colour paintings. This place is definitely worth a visit.
This building is used to be a library of National Taiwan University and now there are many photographs recording the old time. It is a good place for people who want to know this university more.
In my opinion it is the most beautiful place in this university and full of touching memories. I am so lucky to study here when I was young and have been working here since my graduation from NTU.
