First let me say the front desk staff was fantastic. Always kind and cheerful. But the hotel was a real disappointment. I love old buildings so I’m not upset by the quirks but things that needed care just were not cared for. The light was out in the WC. There was a round sticky mess on the carpet. The bathroom sink was so clogged when we ran the faucet hair came back up. The fridge smelled like vomit. None of the clocks in the hotel (including gym) were correct. Rooms were not exactly clean. I got a text from someone named Kumar who asked how I liked my stay and if anything could be improved. I texted back with my concerns and there was zero response. Finally know that the few blocks around the hotel are NOT safe at night. We had to Uber to the nearby inner harbor because the number of folks who were impaired and asking for money (and wandering into the streets) was more than felt safe — and I love in NYC and know the difference between houseless and harmful. I choose to be an IHG member because of Kimpton hotels and this was a huge disappointment. No response from the management at all when problems were highlighted.

Absolutely stunning interior with marble walls and staircase! Beautiful stained glass windows. The lobby is on the second floor, which doesn't make for a great welcome experience entering from street level. But the lobby itself is beautifully done with lots of high-backed lounge chairs and a cozy fireplace. I was upgraded to a suite and took advantage of the jacuzzi tub. Large tvs in the room and the bed was very comfortable. Not all the rooms have usb charging so that was a problem on my second stay. I expect more of a coffee and tea selection from higher end hotels....Hotel Monaco can do better in this dept. I expect this in the rooms. Robe and slippers in room would have also been nice. Overall a good comfortable stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Monaco Baltimore, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked through the doors, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic stay.

The standout feature of my visit was undoubtedly the impeccable service provided by the hotel staff. Kumar, Jamie, and Paul went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction throughout my stay. Their attention to detail, friendly demeanor, and willingness to assist with any request truly made my time at Hotel Monaco memorable.

The blend of modern amenities and classic charm added a unique touch to the overall ambiance.

The central location of the hotel allowed for easy exploration of the vibrant city of Baltimore, and the stunning views from my room provided a delightful backdrop to my stay.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Kumar, Jamie, and Paul for their outstanding service and to the entire Hotel Monaco Baltimore team for creating an environment where guests feel valued and cared for. My stay exceeded all expectations, and I look forward to returning to this wonderful establishment in the future.

While the hotel’s architecture was very nicely designed, the rooms still have an old feel to them. And I’m not sure if that’s why there are spiders all around them, but there were. My girlfriend and I got a room in the king suite and when we woke up the next morning, her arm was all red with spider bites. She was in pain and it was constantly bothering her. We called the hotel to ask what type of spider it could’ve been, not even being disrespectful to them or blaming them, and all we got from the hotel was the run around. They kept saying they would get back to us and never did. They even said we could receive a refund, but never did. I hope that if you’re reading this review, you reconsider staying here because obviously the hotel staff does not care about their guests enough to get back with them, let alone make sure they are okay. I already called a hotel inspector to get this place checked. I hope this review helps many of you looking for a place to stay in Baltimore.

Simply gorgeous boutique hotel set in a stunning historical railroad building. The building is beautifully old. 😍
Was met with the surprise of EVERYTHING having to be paid in full at check-in. Not just a hold being placed on a card for incidentals, but pay BEFORE you stay. AND they place an additional hold of $75 per day for incidentals on your card at the time of check-in. That is returned after a couple of business days. I was there as a wedding planner and we received a group discounted rate, but the payment in full at check-in was not explained to us ahead of time, so we were unable to tell our client's guests upfront & it was unexpected.
Other than that, everyone was very service focused and the rooms were quite comfortable. 👌🏽

I don't usually write reviews about hotels, but this one deserves the special attention due to the much higher cost but drastically lower standards I saw here. The staff don't seem to exist in the hotel other than the front desk, and when I asked anything such as where is parking you couldn't get a simple answer. The key card system seems to not work and it's being replaced. Apparently the hotel is in the process of transitioning to a different system. I couldn't access the gym with my key card, and I had to go find a staff member to get me in. Much of the cardio equipment in the gym doesn't work (broken) along with the TVs attached to them. The personal safe in our room was broken, but full disclosure it was replaced after a mechanical team spent an hour just completely replacing it. The complimentary coffee and wine station doesn't seem to be actively maintained as coffee, creamer, etc was empty when I tried it and the wine wasn't there at all. I told the front desk person, and they couldn't have cared less. I tried to take a shower, but the shower head literally sounds like a jet engine (I'm not making it up.. Horrible sound). They did offer a different room, but at that point I was just thinking I'm never coming back to this hotel. The manager then offered a complimentary drink/breakfast voucher they were keeping at the front desk for us given everything, but of course when we tried to pick it up nothing but confusion ensued. This hotel is a wreck... Didn't seem ready for prime time at all. I don't know if they're just in a state of repair, upgrade, or what.

I love Kimpton hotels and have stayed at this location several times. As a fan of historical architecture, I love the building and especially the staircase inside, which has been meticulously restored and maintained.

I'll preface this review with saying that the staff at the hotel were kind, professional, and accommodating as always.

That said, during my most recent stay, I noticed a decline in cleanliness and functionality in the rooms. The room I was assigned did not have bedding for the bed, the fridge did not work, and the shower had hair ties and metal springs (??) left in it. I'm a bit of a clean freak and tried to overlook this, but the dirty shower got to me, so I asked the front desk for a different room after showing them photos. The front desk staff is SO nice and immediately offered me a free upgrade, which I would not have expected. Our second room was much nicer, had bedding and a working fridge - but unfortunately, the AC and thermostat didn't work. It was a fall heatwave in Baltimore and 85 out, and our room was almost 80 despite setting the AC to 67 overnight.
I asked the front desk staff for an early checkout as a result, which they accepted, but informed me that they could not refund the additional night.
The staff don't control the company's policies, and they were kind in informing me that I wouldn't be refunded, but we did still end up leaving.

All in all, with a little maintenance, the hotel can be restored to its original quality. For now though, I would not recommend staying here, especially for the price. Ulysses is on my list for next time.

I have been coming to the Hotel Monaco in Downtown Baltimore for years, and I will say that it’s starting to show it’s age a little bit, but the one thing that has never depreciated is the level of service from the Kimpton Hotel staff. I always know if I choose to stay here that I’m going to be greeted warmly, and receive great amenities including the evening, wine hour, and complementary coffee in the morning.

The rooms here have so much character because of the historic status of the building. The one thing you’re going to miss out on if you enjoy it is technology and so I have to give the rooms a four because there hasn’t been an update to the television system. I’m not a huge fan of the order movies on your TV. I would much rather be able to stream.

I love that IHG utilizes liquid soap, shampoo, and conditioner methods which reduces waste, but also means that you never need to worry about having it when you travel because there’s plenty and it’s not little tiny bottles.

There are restaurants nearby, but there is one conveniently located on the ground level. The valet parking is pretty expensive, but it is in the building so you know that your car is covered. Overall, I always will recommend this hotel and it’s in a convenient location where you can walk or scooter to the inner harbor, any of the stadiums or concert venues.
