What a great day to play with Legos! Had the pleasure of attending the “Bricks by The Lake” at the Reston Museum. This event had several sponsors and it was well worth the donation to participate. The staff and host were friendly, courteous and helpful. Being a first timer I was greeted like family. By the time the event started it was just a few people participating, within minutes the event was standing room only. Brick makers from far and wide had their creations on display for online voting. Our family enjoyed the greatest gift of fellowship and being together doing something we love.

Small exhibit, not really a museum. Display shows the history of Reston with posters. Needs models and 3D items to show Reston changes. Very limited. Great place to stop, when taking a walk around Lake Anne.

I went here with my grandmother and my twin brother and we had an exciting time! I’ve lived 10 minutes away from this museum for 15 years and on 6.7.2022, I finally got the chance to visit!! At first glance, tourists won’t be super impressed, since it’s a very small community museum run by one man!! However, once you step inside this gem, there is an exciting exhibit on the history and influence of the community of Reston. I’ve learned that Reston was named after its founder, Robert Edmund Simon Junior, who was originally born and raised in New York City. He and other developers wanted to construct a suburban community with urban amenities, such as the super clean Reston Town Center, and the Lake Anne Community Center, which is where the Reston Museum is located. At the start of the tour, the curator plays you a 15-minute video which is all about the history of Reston and how and why it is one of the most, if not, the most influential suburban communities in the United States of America!!!!!! When the exhibit is over, there is a small gift shop, where you can purchase souvenirs such as shirts, coffee mugs, and framed pictures, and much more! A small, yet impressive museum in the outskirts of D.C!!!!!! According to Trip Advisor, the recommended duration here is less than one hour, since it’s so small. However, I recommend that you stay here as long as you want to in order that you throughly learn everything in the museum!!!!

Nice small museum with a little history of Reston neighborhood. Interesting.
Also, it’s free.

My favorite thing here is the 3D miniature of what Reston looked like in earlier days. It also has a lot of neat history of the town, including the story of R. E. Simon, who had the idea for RESton.

A robust repository of Reston's history. I remember coming across some wonderful graphic posters for early events at Lake Ann Plaza once. Also the maps!

Nice little place for history of the area. The gentleman working there was very inviting & friendly. If you're interested in how the Reston area developed and grew, it is a nice place to visit. Also the location sets up a relaxing day, whether single, couple, or family.
