Pret A Manger
2023 Apr 12
I am never going to this Pret-A-Manger again! The items here are preposterously expensive! I went here with my mother during the Cherry Blossom Festival and we are absolutely bewildered at the final price of the 6 items, which were purchased for the both of us: $67.25, plus tax of course! The super pricey food, which isn't even luxurious, is why I never eat at restaurants in D.C.! Another downside about this place is that there was only one bathroom here, and the line to go there was too long. The food is not that bad at all, but the only thing about this location is that I had a window view of F Street, where my mother and I did some people watching. What's amazing about this place is that right outside the restaurant, you're in the hearty of a really loud city, but as soon as you're inside, the sounds of D.C. are immediately silenced! Besides those two pros, the cons take center stage is this place.
Eleanor Roosevelt Statue

Along with FDR Memorial in general, this statue of the Eleanor Roosevelt was a pretty cool site to see! The FDR Memorial park is huge! So much so, that it took me between 25-30 minutes to smoothly walk through it. I'm not a huge fan of the man FDR, (I'll keep my reasons to myself, since I never intend to discuss politics on my reviews) but I still ad mired all the statues and the walls which contained notable quotes from FDR himself, some of which were deep, others not so much. Funny story: as my mother and I were walking through this place, we ran into a group of eighth graders, and this was this tour guide who asked all of them to finish the famous line from FDR: "We have nothing to fear..." I responded: "...But fear itself!" The guide responded: "He knows it...!...and he's not even a member of this group!!" All the people around my mother and I laughed laughed for 5 seconds straight, not AT me, but WITH me!! I felt like flexing my muscles of knowledge in front of the D.C. tourists!! No matter your view of FDR, this is still cool place to check out, when visiting D.C.!
Northbank River Walk

This is one of the best ways to experience the great city of Jacksonville, in the great state of Florida! However, when I went here, I found this place not so tourist-friendly, since there are almost no sights to see. I did, however, see several sites: The USS Orleck, a Gearing- Class Destroyer battleship turned museum, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )’s Grasses, named in discouragement of the Jax mayor, because of the defunct Jacksonville Landing, where I a perfect view of The Wells Fargo Tower, the Bank of America Tower (Jax’s tallest), and I even went under a big bridge, which had street art and an outdoor fitness center. I’ve also seen The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, which is home to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (JSO). During the Riverwalk, I saw some street art as well! Unfortunately, I didn’t go inside the USS Orleck Museum because it was closed at the time of my visit. There is a picture-perfect view of the Main Street Bridge! The Jax Northbank Riverwalk, in my opinion, is more of an actual resident thing, rather than a tourist thing, since you’ll see a few locals here, but not a lot of tourists. When I walked with family under the Main Street Bridge, through the Riverwalk path, we saw a man and a woman sleeping under the bridge with shades on, which was a weird site to me, because I thought they were homeless. At the beginning of the Northbank Riverwalk, I saw 2 statues of a man and a woman running, and there were inscriptions at the bottom of each statue, but I can’t remember a single word from it, unfortunately. My family and I couldn’t do the entire North bank Riverwalk, since part of it was closed off to the public, due to roadwork. As a result, there was a detour, which took you into a couple of downtown streets, and then we had to walk 2 blocks, to get back on the Riverwalk. It was perfect on the day I went though, since my family and I had the entire Riverwalk to ourselves, with the exception of some friendly locals who smiled and greeted us as we walked by, a true symbol of Southern Hospitality!! We didn’t park at the Riverwalk, since the parking lost for it looked abandoned and sketchy. Instead, we parked at the Hyatt Regency Hotel parking garages, 3 stories up, amd we had a perfect view of The Florida Theatre too! However, we had to walk 2 blocks to get to the Riverwalk itself. In conclusion, the Northbank Riverwalk was not as exciting as I thought it would be, but it’s still a great way to experience Jacksonville, Florida!
Reston Museum
2022 Jun 12
I went here with my grandmother and my twin brother and we had an exciting time! I’ve lived 10 minutes away from this museum for 15 years and on 6.7.2022, I finally got the chance to visit!! At first glance, tourists won’t be super impressed, since it’s a very small community museum run by one man!! However, once you step inside this gem, there is an exciting exhibit on the history and influence of the community of Reston. I’ve learned that Reston was named after its founder, Robert Edmund Simon Junior, who was originally born and raised in New York City. He and other developers wanted to construct a suburban community with urban amenities, such as the super clean Reston Town Center, and the Lake Anne Community Center, which is where the Reston Museum is located. At the start of the tour, the curator plays you a 15-minute video which is all about the history of Reston and how and why it is one of the most, if not, the most influential suburban communities in the United States of America!!!!!! When the exhibit is over, there is a small gift shop, where you can purchase souvenirs such as shirts, coffee mugs, and framed pictures, and much more! A small, yet impressive museum in the outskirts of D.C!!!!!! According to Trip Advisor, the recommended duration here is less than one hour, since it’s so small. However, I recommend that you stay here as long as you want to in order that you throughly learn everything in the museum!!!!
Silverstein Family Park

A great place to relax, talk with family and friends, and even splash around it’s Jeff Koons sculpture in the summertime when water flies out from the ground, encircling the sculpture! It’s located in a loud part of Lower Manhattan, but right next to a silent memorial park. The atmosphere feels heavenly and extremely soothing!!
