The clam chowder was tasty, but nothing special. Bread bowl was a little stale. It’s a good stop if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat. The line was out the door and down the alley on a warm Saturday afternoon, but the wait actually wasn’t bad. You’re lucky if you can find a seat though! The place itself is very small. They offer a chowder sampler, I’d suggest getting that.
Must try Chowder place at Pike Place Market. We came on a rainy Saturday afternoon and the line wasn't too long. We got lucky with seating inside but the dining room was tiny. The ordered the Chowder sampler to try 4 kinds of Chowder. I think the original clam Chowder was still the best out of the 4 we tried.
The Pike place chowder seems like a dish for whomever is craving for a warm cheese fresh thick soup plate. Its a well known place winning lots of awards. Dinning there is usually comes with a line up. You can order through their app to skip the line but if you do so you can only sit outside and have to eat it fast before it gets cold.
Their variety of chowders caters to diverse tastes. I personally tried the smoked salmon chowder with a sourdough bread and man, it was delicious!
The freshness of ingredients and skillful preparation shine through in each savory spoonful.
Plus, they also have vegan and gluten-free options!
For people who want to try every option, they also serve a chowder sampler to try between 5-8 options.
I would definitely take new people here to try this amazing dish.

We waited for 5-10 minutes. The line went quickly. We ordered scallop chowder and market place chowder. It was really really good. It came with chowder biscuits and one piece of bread. We ordered the small size and the serving along side bread and biscuits was very filling. They had pork free options too , halal friendly .
Pike Place Chowder in Seattle's Pike Place Market offers a renowned Crab and Oyster Chowder, served in a sourdough bowl. The chowder combines crab meat and oysters in a creamy base. The flavors are well-balanced, with a notable presence of crab and a subtle hint of oyster.
The sourdough bowl adds a tangy touch to the rich chowder. However, the portion size is small compared to the price, which might not sit well with everyone. Also, there's often a long wait, as I experienced a 30-minute queue before opening.
Despite these drawbacks, the experience at Pike Place Chowder is worth it. The vibrant market atmosphere and the delicious chowder make it a unique Seattle experience. It's an ideal spot for seafood lovers and those looking for a special culinary experience, even if it means paying a bit more and waiting longer. The Crab and Oyster Chowder here is a must-try for its taste and the overall experience it offers.

Some of the best chowder I’ve had. We visit whenever we’re in town and it’s a bit sad that it’s in such a touristy area, but don’t let that deter you. The chowder really really is that good!
This time we shared a salmon chowder and a lobster roll. Hadn’t gotten the lobster roll before and I’m sad I’ve not tried it sooner!! It was so so good!
When in the area, go try this place.
Oh- quick note about the sourdough bread bowl… many people love it, but in my opinion the bread bowl covers up the flavors of the chowder a little so I enjoy the chowder in a regular bowl to get all the nuances and complexities of the seasonings. But that’s just me. Many many people like the experience of eating out of the bread bowl.

There’s always queue outside the small shop, but the line moves quite fast.
Their chowder is delicious. The rolls are good too!
There are some outdoor seating, however you must get your food first before you can get the table.
This is to be fair to everyone in the line.

I would give this place a solid 4/5. There is a huge line so it goes kind of fast. That’s the easy part, the hard part is finding to find a table for a small group of 4. The seating is tight so not much room in between tables. The food was delicious. Prices are what you would expect. Expensive but worth trying.
-New England clam chowder 5/5 - Creamy, it went well with your bread. I liked the slices with the bacon. Plenty of clams.
-Connecticut style Dungeness crab roll 5/5 - it was my first time trying a crab roll and it did not disappoint. It made me crave for more.
-Connecticut style lobster roll ⅘ - i loved the lobster roll, I just wished there was more crab in it for the price.
