Pike Place Chowder
2023 Dec 28
Some of the best chowder I’ve had. We visit whenever we’re in town and it’s a bit sad that it’s in such a touristy area, but don’t let that deter you. The chowder really really is that good!
This time we shared a salmon chowder and a lobster roll. Hadn’t gotten the lobster roll before and I’m sad I’ve not tried it sooner!! It was so so good!
When in the area, go try this place.
Oh- quick note about the sourdough bread bowl… many people love it, but in my opinion the bread bowl covers up the flavors of the chowder a little so I enjoy the chowder in a regular bowl to get all the nuances and complexities of the seasonings. But that’s just me. Many many people like the experience of eating out of the bread bowl.

Checked this place out after someone recommended it and I see why! I seemed to be earlier than the morning rush, so had plenty to choose from and not rushed. I opted for the avocado toast and was pleasantly surprised. The bread was baked fresh and I could tell it was elevated more than typical sourdough. The herbs and olive oil on top of the mashed avocado was a nice touch too. To drink I just got a drip coffee, which was a bit on the acidic side but plenty favorable and robust. Nice earthy undertones, makes me optimistic about their espresso.
I picked up a loaf of their sourdough when exciting and enjoyed it over the following days… very artisanal.
Overall it was a nice experience and I want to try it out again at a different time of day to see how the vibe changes.

Most coffee shops are loud, busy (or give off busy vibes) and you don’t stay very long. This location in the Atlanta History Center brings back the “third spot” ideal where you can go between home and work (or whatever your destination is). It’s not library quiet but you can enjoy a nice conversation - the quality coffee/tea adds to the ambiance.
The baristas are friendly and the coffee itself is tasty. I personally like other beans a little better which is why this is a 4 stars rather than 5 but I’m picky like that. My drink is a very coffee forward drink (Americano) so the bean flavor isn’t covered up by milk. I know many people who love their coffee.
This is a great place and I always enjoy my time there.
