Lovely place to stroll around and relax. Contains a unique outdoor sculpture as well as the historical lighthouse.
This is one of my new favorite places in New York City. The serenity, great views, and historic walking trail are just a few reasons you should come check this place out.
One hidden gem to getaway from city chaos. It has a beautiful park and a beautiful Lighthouse on the corner of the island!
Small green area in the northern tip of Roosevelt Island. Some sculptures give some character to the park. Restrooms small but functional.
Gorgeous hidden gem. Great views all around Manhattan and Astoria. The sculptures are gorgeous and the area around it is so nice.
I came to Roosevelt Island often by train and mostly hung out by the bottom of Island and never come up to the top of Island. Today I came by car because I also took my dog with me. It was different feeling coming this way and I have to park my car at the parking lot because on the side street only allow the Island resident to park.
I walked about 15 minutes to the Lighthouse, and it wasn't crowded at all on Saturday. The park was nice and has some Arts make the park more interesting. Around lighthouse has big curb to sit and see east river and you can enjoy view of both side of Manhattan and Queens. Compare to the bottom of the Island I think the feeling isn't the same. Down there is more to the ocean and up here is more river vibe. I also heard in the summer lots of people like to come to this park for BBQ. It such a nice park.
There are many ways to come to this Island by train, car, furry or even on foot.

This is a really nice park. It’s definitely worth visiting Roosevelt Island for this ark alone. Enjoy the great views of Manhattan, The Bronx and Queens and also take a look at the lighthouse & interesting sculptures. A really relaxing place to visit!
As a state monument, it seems like little is being done to preserve this historic site on Governor’s Island. There are too many birds and bird droppings on the lighthouse and around it. I expected it to be cleaner in comparison to the rest of the island.
I like the historic elements of the site however and I feel like with time, much more can be done to ensure that it feels like it is a historic site meant to be preserved.

Nice spot for walking, lots of people enjoy picnicking in summer. Also seems to be a popular spot for fishermen, although amateurs beware there are lots of rocks so you will probably lose your bait. Visitors can take the red bus to the Octagon or the Q102 to Coler (now a skilled nursing facility, the last remaining healthcare facility on an island once filled with them). There are also citibikes on the island. Please don't be one of those people and try to drive here, you will only be disappointed (the only legal parking past the Octagon is with a Coler permit).
It's always fun to walk around Roosevelt Island when the weather is nice. The views over to Manhattan and Queens are great, and the Lighthouse Park has some cool art installations to explore in addition to the lighthouse itself.
The island has some great restaurants and coffee places, and so you can make a day or half day of it when exploring.

Lovely park on the Northern tip of Roosevelt Island.
Best way to get there is public transportation as parking on the island can be rough. The "Motorgate" Parking Garage is the closest public garage and it is about 0.8 mile walk from there to the Park. Rates are about $8 per hour, $10 for 2 hours. You also can walk/bike over from Queens using the Roosevelt Island Bridge-36th Avenue. You can also take the F Train or Tram to Roosevelt Island from Manhattan and then take the free Red Bus which runs up and down the Island.
The park is a beautiful open space with the lighthouse on the end.The park also has the "Girl Puzzle" exhibit some open grassed space.
The space is very well maintained. It offers some lovely views of Queens and the Manhattan skyline.
