The most beautiful caves of all that we have seen in the area! There are many different sculptures. There are few tourists. Admission is free (only for donation.) And please leave them a donation! The monk ties a red thread . When he ties the thread, don't forget to make a wish!

The Tham Ta Pan temple in Phang-Nga is not for the weakhearted...
A large area of the temple grounds has been reserved with an array of statues depicting Buddhist Hell. Some of the statues are truly horrifying and may give you the creeps!
There's more to see ofcourse than hellish scenery and fortunately the temple grounds have nice Buddha and Indian Gods statues, a tunnel through a dragon's body, a cave, many nice trees and plenty of tranquility.
I think it's worth a visit! 👍😊

Absolutely loved the Temple, the adventure through the cave with very slippery mud and no lightning made the experience even better for me. We used our phone torch in the cave. The Blessing and clearing from the Monk 🤍🫶🤍 The stairs to Heaven gave the adrenalin a kick start. The visit to He'll was really informative and interesting. Definitely more of a cultural experience Temple and so grateful 🙏

Unique temple in Phang Nga Town. Also known as "Heaven and Hell" temple. The cave was flooded the day I went and it was raining so I didn't climb to the view point. There were some monkeys about and the abbot was shuffling about.

When we visited the place it was not clean but understandable because of covid nobody is cleaning the place. The cave doesnt have light so you might need your own flashlight to go inside if you want. And must bring mosquito spray because theres a lot of mosquitos during rainy season. Over all it was a nice visit 😀

A right place to relax and heal mind, heart and soul. Inside, in armony with nature and animals between heaven and hell, you can find the means of humans, so amazing and so imperfected at same time 🙏🙏🙏

After being in Thailand for years ( legitimately I may add) I decided to go to Tham Ta Pan Temple ( Buddhist Heaven an Hell ). Firstly the temple is spelled three different ways on various signs throughout the temple so if you use the spelling above you will always be able to locate it on your smart phone.

The temple is quite close to the immigration office in PhangNga so while in the area be sure to stop by.

After reading many other reviews of fellow google guides and posts on trip advisor I felt compelled to give my comments.

Upon arriving at the temple I was pleasantly surprised, I mean I heard about this temple many times and mixed emotions from people that went there. The online pictures available do not give the place justice. I heard the place called dingy, gross, poorly maintained, a waste of time, don’t bring your precious children... etc. Grow up Negative Nannies.

The place is awesome. The statues reflect truly how Thai people perceive heaven and hell. Ya hell is bad, what did you expect, little Red Devils and statues of people who look sad gazing into the heavens and praying for a second chance.

I personally loved just walking around and looking at the expressions of the (what I call) “culture prudes” walking around with flagrantly disgusted looks on their face as if saying “In my country we would never show something like this”. It’s hilarious.

The hell portion is a poignant reminder to Thai people that if you are bad this what could happen to you. Ya it’s not pretty so be good.

Heaven- well it’s just “sugar drops and candy canes” looks exotically beautiful.

I liked the dragon entrance and tunnel (which makes up the body and tail of the dragon) and delivers you to the cave entrance left and hell to your right. For tall foreigners like myself “ watch your head” through the tunnel :)

In short I would say that a trip to this temple is well worth the entrance fee ( there isn’t any) and it is a great way to jump into the heads of the Thai people, their amazing culture and beliefs.

For the “ culture prudes” best you stay away or stay on your bulk charter bus as god forbid you become emotionally disturbed or disturb others with your miserable faces and shallow minded culture shock.

Oh and by the way, on my day there was many local children there having fun and smiling. Maybe the temple is a bit much for toddlers and younger children but I can think of a few pre teen kids I know that could use a little shock here and there to sort them out...
but then again it’s a parental thing isn’t it?

Telling it straight in Thailand
Cheers

Heaven & Hell it is. Walk through the dragons mouth and into the creepy cool cave that goes on with a stream that runs through it. A mynah bird flew in and guided us part of the way. We were blessed by the monk who protects the cave. Then exit as you came and walk down the stairs to hell. Someones imagination went wild. Please donate as they need it for electricity and repairs.
