A real gem of a museum and next to a real working airport. We were lucky to get a tour with a brilliant and knowledgeable guide. Very enjoyable!
I attended a wedding at this hidden gem. It was simple, but very decorative. Everyone’s attire blended in well with the 1940 theme. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They served us hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a great meal. There was a group of dancers dressed in 40s’ attire, that entertained us outside while we waited for the reception to set up. Also there was a photographer inside taking black & white photos with props included. That was fun!
This museum was amazing! Alexander was so nice and he answered any questions we had. He was very knowledgeable about everything. My favorite part was seeing all the fun mannequins with different outfits from their time. I'm looking forward to bringing my future kids here!
My wife and I like to explore interesting off the beaten path history of Houston and decided to check this one out. The docents were really great and spent a lot of time explaining the history. If you like aviation history and Houston history, you will enjoy this place.
Great art deco building. The entire structure is a museum, not just the displays. Love museums like that. Free for military.
One of the best kept secrets in Houston - great event venue and valuable piece of history.
This museum is located near William Hobby Airport and is a short drive from there. It has a plane in the parking lot out front, but the Air Terminal has three stories. Only the first story is open, which has exhibits on the historic airlines (many which did not make it) that called Hobby home. There is also a small space exhibit which shows off Houston as Space City.
If you get a chance, go take a look at the annex which includes a trainer, a helicopter and another airplane. They often wait for larger groups to take the walk over there. Sometimes if you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of the Houston Rockets private plane.
Great for aviation lovers. It is also a beautiful event venue that gives a nice historical flair. Used a Groupon to get a good deal. They have wonderful volunteers that are highly knowledgeable. If they had more funds, they could finish renovating the second floor, which has a great view of the runways.

I've been meaning to visit this museum for a long time and I finally had the chance to do so recently. For history lovers, this place is phenomenal. As soon as I stepped inside the building, I could smell history. The structure is definitely old and dated but this only makes it more attractive and interesting. My favorite part was stepping inside the historic airplane in the back of the museum and watching modern airplanes take off from Hobby Airport. I really enjoyed my visit and highly recommend this museum to all Houstonians and history buffs.
I had a good time here at the first airport in Houston. This museum features artifacts from the early days of aviation. It includes items such as pilot and flight attendant uniforms, china and silverware used to serve dinner in flight, luggage, etc. This place was also home to the Women's Air Force pilots during the 1940s. This is a fascinating place rich in history. I'd visit this place again in the future.
