Stopped by Hills Kitchen with a Nigerian friend and was met by two friendly Nigerians who spoke with my friend in their local Igbo language, which helped me choose the food.
It turned out that one of the Nigerians is the owner, who was attentive. We ordered a spicy and tasty soup and it came with yam fufu, and I had the Orijin drink.

We order beef stew and got beef jerky with tomato soup which seems to be spoiled. Also ordered chicken stew and end up getting two chicken drumsticks 🍗 🍗. Jollof rice was too spicy, not sure why it was made spicy cuz we didn’t request for spicy. didn’t seem enough to call traditional cuz I had nigerin food before made by my nigerin friends. 😞
I wonder why people keep commenting and saying the food is good. This hills kitchen cooks or serves nonsense to people.
Pepper soup that doesn't use spices nor pepper and it's horribly tasteless!! It's not as shown on menu which uses catfish, they gave me tilapia!! It stinks like raw fish in some boiled soup!! I'm not sure this is a Nigerian cuisine because it's THE WORSE!! THE MOST HORRIBLE Nigerian food I have ever tasted in MY LIFE!! The egusi soup is totally trash!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AT ALLLLL!!!! I would have given ZERO STARS if I can!!!!

Hills Kitchen is by my Best Friends House, the food was fantastic. We had the Egusi, Red Stew and FuFu. The Red Stew was so good we got exra fufu and ate it like a meal lol. The waitress was beautiful and treated us like Queens. We felt good in this place. Made a new friend. Happy Hour hit! We will be back!!!
The goat stew is very tasty. Jollof rice is tasty as well, a bit spicy but delicious! Not disappointed at all. Will definitely be ordering again.
My son and I visited NYC last weekend. My son wanted to try West African food. He found this place on our travels. It was excellent. Staff was friendly. I now can add fufu to my list of loved foods.
So basically, $17 For mostly rice and and a little bit of meat because there was more fat than meat BUT the rice was amazing, the flavors were great!!.....
Service was terrible. After waiting so long to get napkins and a $2.50 can of soda, the lady was touching the screen with food on her hands and no gloves. Then I thought about it we basically finished majority of the food...

The meat pie was very filling. I found the prices of drinks to be expensive. The food was good and the hostess was kind and friendly.
The space is pretty small and can seat about 10 people. It gets pretty crowded when people are coming to order for pick up. So I will say it is not an ideal sit in to dine in place. I will recommend order out. The food prices are reasonable. I did not particularly enjoy the goat pepper soup as the meat was small chunks. The meat-pie tasted good and the portion was great.
