Very cute location. A great spot to meet friends. No reservation needed. The food was really tasty and cooked with love.
There are vegetarian options as well.

I love this place. Best stuffed cabbage rolls I had ever had in my life. Even better than my mom’s cooking. I also happened to be there when the Ukrainian church choir was celebrating someone's birthday. The singing was stunning! I couldn't understand much but I cried my eyes out.

The food is good. You can order a set of real home made Ukrainian dishes, like borscht, varenyky, holubtsi and real Ukrainian dessert - medivnyk. The interior is not great, but it is not a fancy place at all.

Got the 6 piece pierogies with sour cream; $7. Potato filling. Simple comfort food, nothing amazing but homemade. Maybe 7.5/10.

This basement cafeteria is charming in it’s casual, everyman way. Food is authentic and cheap. Dumplings are good and so is the sausage. Cash only.

Growing up in a Romanian household, I knew I had to try this place out when I was visiting NY. I can firmly say that this is by far the best food I’ve had in ages. I know I may be biased because I grew up eating the stuffed cabbage rolls they have, but no pizza in NY can compare to the food I experienced there. I do want to mention they take cash only as not many people online have made that clear. This will be my #1 memory of visiting New York for the first time and will make sure to come by every single time they’re open whenever I visit again. I hope they stick around forever as you will never find food this authentic and amazing. The owner is very polite, respectable and made me feel like I was invited over to a friend’s place for dinner with the homey atmosphere that was very comforting. I guarantee everyone who will eat here will leave extremely pleased.

This place is a GEM. I’ve been on East 7th Street so many times and walked right past this place - you kind of have to know to look for it but it’s also easy to find. I have never had stuffed cabbage that rivaled my mom’s until now. Unreal. Pierogi is amazing and tastes like home, too! It’s super cheap but make sure you bring cash - it’s cash only! I will be back again and again.

I have tried millions of restaurants in NY and have a lot of favorites but this is one of my favorites. Definitely top 10. I recommend the 10$ lunch special. It’s always something different but always something amazing. The ambience is incredible. Feels like you’re in some sort of cafeteria in a small town in Ukraine.
