Hanbat Shul Lung Tang is a cozy Korean restaurant that only serves Shul Lung Tang on their menu. It's a soup with choice of meat in a bone broth that has been stewed for hours upon hours.

Ordered the beef brisket and it was delicious. Put some salt, pepper on the side to dip the meat.

Broth was delicious and this is the type of comfort food you are looking for after a long night.

$20 per bowl including tip so you don't have to worry about the change.

There is free parking in the back.

When we went during lunch, there was no wait.

Original Bone Broth 💯

It’s hard to dispute the fact that Los Angeles’ Koreatown is the mecca for Korean food in the United States

I’ve never lived close enough to explore it well but did this past week sampling soy marinated raw crabs, short rib stews, and multi-colored banchan

My favorite however was the traditional ox bone soup. In the SF Bay Area, I most often order the more flavorful galbi tang (short rib soup) but the sul lung tang is as close to Korea and the go-to in LA

I’ve been wanting to try Han Bat Shul Lung Tang for close to a decade and it did not disappoint

Just a pinch of salt, plentiful scallions and a side of kimchi and rice made the perfect meal combination

The broth is milky white (side note I also tried the clear sul lung tang at Young Dang) and it’s so full of rich beefiness you can easily tell it’s made over hours

Parking isn’t as bad as I’ve always feared in LA with plentiful lots and parking structures in Koreatown that makes it a destination worthy of your time

📷 Salgoki Sul Lung Tang $20 ~ brisket / Seokum $20 ~ mixed / Naejang $20 ~ Intestines, Tripe, Spleen

This restaurant is worth all the hype in my opinion. They only serve 2 dishes: seolleongtang & suyuk. I didn't try the suyuk, so I cannot speak on that, but I absolutely loved the seolleongtang!

PSA: The dish is supposed to be served bland people!!!! That's why there's always salt and black pepper, and you adjust as you want!!!!!!

Personally, I always add minimal salt and lots of black pepper & green onion. This soup is my "soul-healing soup". The very-slightly salted soup makes is perfect for a hangover, a cold day, or really any time. I've tried a few Korean restaurants that serve seolleongtang and would say this place is one of my top 2! I had two bowls of rice and emptied my whole bowl of seolleongtang

Another thing that I loved about the restaurant was the kimchi. The regular kimchi tasted freshly home-made, while the radish kimchi was incredibly delicious and paired so well with the soup and rice. We got (free) refills on the radish twice because it was just that crunchy and good!

My family and I came on a Friday afternoon, and it was packed. The restaurant has a very small hole-in-the-wall vibe and parking, unfortunately, is valet. Street parking is otherwise hard to find. The wait was not as long as I had thought it would've been for how long the line was. And yes, this is a very long review on one dish because that's how much I loved it lol

Authentic Korean food (설렁탕) that is prepared very well. The side dishes(kimchi) is prepared fresh: not spicy, very flavorful, and each bite is crunchy and delicious 😋

short line, super fresh and hot soup, although the meat toppings were quite skimpy / pretty sure they missed some of the cuts we had asked for. make sure to doctor it up with green onions, kimchi is great and not too salty!

My wife had told me this place was in a movie and it fell on deaf ears. I thought the neighborhood looked a bit shady and I was hesitant at first, but now I drive 400 miles each way just to have a bowl of the bone soup. Wow wow wow. Mind you I've driven down 4 times and the moment I leave, I crave another bowl of the brisket soup. Every time I've gone down to the shop, I've taken Pictures to post a review but I've purposely forgotten to do so. This place is a 1000000 x must. You have to try it and it must include all the fixings. Go with a Korean person or someone who knows Korean food. Not enough words to express how amazing this place is.

Han Bat Seol Lung Tang is a delightful restaurant that offers a truly authentic and satisfying Korean dining experience. Their specialty, seol lung tang, a rich and flavorful ox bone soup, is simply outstanding. The broth is simmered to perfection, resulting in a comforting and robust flavor that is complemented by tender pieces of beef and a variety of traditional accompaniments. The friendly staff provides excellent service, and the cozy ambiance adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Whether you're a fan of Korean cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, Han Bat Seol Lung Tang is a must-visit destination for a memorable dining experience.

Instructions on how to enjoy Seol Lung Tang: Begin by adding a bowl of rice into the soup, which will make the level of the soup rise. It's important to add a generous amount of sliced green onions—so much that they nearly spill out of the bowl; this step is essential for the perfect Seol Lung Tang. Then, incorporate half a spoonful of salt and three-quarters of a spoonful of spicy sauce. Stir well to ensure the green onions blend into the soup, significantly enhancing its flavor. Remember, the success of your Seol Lung Tang hinges on the abundance of green onions. Enjoy your meal!
