The first time I have experienced a table side service, where the waitrons are extremely well dressed and very polite. Their dinning theatrics are brilliant to watch. If you would like a true Portuguese, fine dinning experience, I would suggest making a booking here!
What a lovely experience. Gambrinus was a real delight, the flamboyance of the waiters, the intimacy of the setting, the quality and the food and the drinks. Lean into it and enjoy!
Definitely a hidden high end experience with suits and traditional paneling walls. This was probably the most expensive lunch we've had in Lisbon, but it was definitely worth it. We ordered like royalty and stayed for almost 2 hours. The whole fish seabass was cooked with garlic and olive oil. The special duck rice and roasted cod were excellent. Definitely get the seafood bisque as it's the best I've had since childhood memories - just pure delicious flavors of the ocean. Service was attentive and incredibly generous. Our food was brought out and plated in front of us. Fish was freshly fileted with perfect plates and split dishes. I would normally reserve these types of meals for special occasions, but it's a holiday and we had the whole dining space to ourselves at 2pm. The seafood looked extremely fresh and bountiful. It was around $300EUR for 6 people, but we ordered quite a bit and a bottle of wine. For full transparency, I believe there was a $15 seating fee.
A storied and private formal dining experience. Take a breather from the tourist area of Lisbon and step back in time. We had the classics clams, salt-cod bacalhau and duck rice. All delicious. The place is smart but relaxed and every now and then someone orders crêpe suzette and we get a free fire show! Loved it.
Closer to 3.5 stars overall because of poor service.
Walked in without a reservation and was seated soon thereafter.
Food is excellent. Table-side finishing as well as which is a great touch.
Service is subpar. Waited over 15 minutes for my bill which never came then had to walk up to the counter to finally gain attention to pay.
Wife and I were comfortably dressed after a long tour day and were largely ignored in the corner opposed to larger tables and ones that were dressed up. Real shame considering how tasty the food was.

Despite making reservations for the larger hall, we were placed in a corner of the smaller dining area. The food, lacking in flavor, seemed overpriced compared to similar offerings a few streets away. We also experienced a long wait for our meal and initial service. While the wine was satisfactory, my query about the green wine was answered by simply being directed to look at the menu, with no additional guidance provided. Additionally, we were unexpectedly charged 5 euros for cutlery, a fee not clearly stated on the menu. Although I am aware that some restaurants implement this practice, it was surprising here, especially since the waiter also solicited a tip at the end, despite the automatic service charge, and we were charged even though we didn't consume any bread, which I assumed was included in the service fee.
Gambrinus feels like a time capsule back to the 1930s, but in a good way! The food is delicious (strongly recommend the pork cooked with chestnuts and the prawn in garlic oil). Very good service as well, with many practices you really don’t see in restaurants any more. Perfect place for a leisurely meal where you can forget the time (or the decade).
Absolutely fantastic! A great traditional restaurant hidden in the center of Lisbon. The service is at a level of a Michelin star restaurant and the food is simple but well prepared and with a good taste. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want a dinner with quality, class and definitely not touristic.
