Food was amazing, wine was great and the atmosphere was very traditional, service was super nice, I would definitely come back there

A really lovely large garden tucked away in the walled city. My partner had the cassoulet which was superb. They were very accommodating and adapted one of the mains to be vegetarian for me.

Sadly had a beyond disappointing experience. From the owner smoking inside with her friends to the long wait for a watery onion soup… I came because the good reviews but had to send back the onion soup as it tasted like water. We were met with no apology at all and as I am vegetarian there was only the salad or the pasta for me to chose from I didn’t feel like waiting for another 45 minutes while my partner had almost finished his meal. On explaining the disappointing service to I believe what was the owner I was met with sarcasm and agression instead of an apology. I said it’s normal to offer a gesture to say sorry such as a glass of wine, and again was met with sarcasm. She asked what I wanted off the menu and I said what did she feel was reflective, so she took off one glass of wine. I also had my phone charging and she told me she would / should charge me for the electricity for 5 euros. A shame for such a pretty place… hopefully a one off bad experience… but wouldn’t recommend if you want a friendly smoke free atmosphere…

What surprised me the most, is the great job of the two waitresses that manage all customers just by themselves and always with a smile. Food was amazingly tasty and the location inside the castle just a dream. I maybe missed a terrace with a view, but the inner yard is nice and cozy.

Got a good write up in the Telegraph which seems to translate to uncritical reviews on Google and Trippie amongst the English visitors.

The place is tucked away and was quiet at first though it gradually filled up.

You sit out back in a garden / courtyard of sorts - in danger of being eaten when the mosquitoes are out, one of us was bitten a few times.

The starters we had were good if expensive, salmon and tuna. The veal main was dull, but edible. The cassoulet was just dull (it is a dull dish everywhere, no getting away from it, shouldn't have ordered it).

50cl bottles of wine were a good option.

If I had a column in a national newspaper, could I eat for free?
A
Dishes I took (onion soup and casserole with duck and pork) were average but my boyfriend’s starter (toast with ham) and chicken were very good. Desserts were tasty as well.
