It's a nice trail, but there is allot of rain damage to the road part of the trail which means you go in allot of mud. Was nicer last year hopefully it's repaired soon.
Kind of short and crosses a decent amount of roads, the Zim Smith Trail is the future for zero emission travel and low impact fitness for this region. It needs to be expanded. It is poorly maintained in the winter. If we can't have mass transit, or even a bus between Clifton Park and Saratoga with a stop in Mechanicville, at least maintain and expand the Zim Smith!!!
I love this trail so much. It's extremely flat, good for hiking and biking.
Great trail going past railroad tracks, ponds, parks, and several towns. We've done several sections throughout the years.
Beautiful paved walking and bike path, under a mostly treed canopy. Many areas hug ponds and streams.
Splendid paved trail, mostly flat that passes by a few nice parks with opportunities for food and drink along the way. Don't be fooled by outdated pictures showing dirt surfaces; the trail is now entirely paved with asphalt.
Great place for a walk, run, bike ride. There are 3 paved small parking lots one has a restroom. Path is now paved and has expanded in both directions from this parking lot. One direction is flat, the other is a little hilly. The hilly direction does have least one handicap accessible picnic tables along the path.
This is the start of a 9-mile flat, gravel packed, wide trail suitable for biking, strollers, and joggers that don't want any elevation change. It's a lovely trail that passes through wetlands and forests, although you will also encounter some backyards as well. It's impossible to get lost on this trail ☺️ Starting at the trailhead, the first three miles are hard-packed gravel and the rest is paved.
This is just a basic trail entrance. There are no facilities aside from the parking lot at the trailhead. There is no water, no restrooms, no playground, no picnic tables, and no benches. I'm not sure how far up you have to travel before there are any facilities at all on the trail.
