MEININGER Hotel Berlin East Side Gallery

This is more like a family hotel than a hostel. The staff at the reception were very kind and helpful, the bartender was a different story. This is not a typical hostel for your everyday backpacker. My first night I arrived I decided to grab drinks at the bar, very lovely bar and game area- however there was a good amount of children playing ( I love kids) but the bar area is not a place for children to be playing pool and running around especially after 9pm. The bartender was extremely flustered; when I walked up to order a drink he said in a panic you need to give me 5 minutes I can’t remember what drink is next I am backed up. So I waited. He made my Aperol spritz and only filled the glass a little under half way. I asked why only half for a full priced ( 8$ ) drink? He said that’s the way we make them, so in all the bar and bar tender was not a good experience. I will most likely not return here because it is not my style hostile, but it was clean and lovely decorated perfect for a family. Also the breakfast (12$) is not worth the price. I was getting the same breakfast at most hostels in Europe for (6-8$)

Great location, pretty clean and nice staff, but this is it. There's an event venue right next to the building, so get ready to loud music way after 11pm. No wonder they're giving away free earplugs at reception, this is apparently the only way they can make it a bit more bearable. An absolute no if you're a light sleeper. Also, don't bring anything bigger than a urban backpack or you won't be able to store your belongings safely - no storage room, only tiny paid lockers, which is also a hassle. All in all, not worth the price tag, not coming back.

All good.. 24 hr front desk worked perfect..peace of mind if coming in late..came at 11:00pm. Very friendly staff. Rooms are good..bed was good..bathroom looked fine..sink could be slightly bigger..2 min walk to train station. All the surrounding area felt safe to walk at close to midnight. Walked around the lounge area bit. Looks clean and fun place. 20 min train ride S9 or RE38(?) to BER t1-2 airport...€4..one way. Would stay again for sure..i am a 54 year old male..first time ever in this type of shared room stay. 4 beds per room and a bathroom inside the room.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The location is a real highlight, being incredibly close to the city center, making it convenient to explore Berlin’s many attractions. Moreover, it’s situated in proximity to some of Berlin’s most famous clubs, adding an extra layer of excitement for nightlife enthusiasts.

One aspect that particularly stood out to me was the sense of safety I felt during my stay. The hotel is situated in a secure neighborhood, which provided peace of mind throughout my visit. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy a convenient and safe stay in Berlin.

Nice hostel located right next to the east trainstation. Service was good but not great and there is nothing to complain about when talking about the rooms: not very big but enough space to live with, nice bathroom with a spacious shower and a clean toilet. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Keep in mind that the east side of Berlin is not nearly as interesting as the west side.

This hostels is in a great location, really close to the East side Gallery and well connected to the centre of the city. The room was fine. The kitchen was very good and it has a terrace where you can talk to a lot of nice people.

The room was a bit small for four people but the guest kitchen, bar and the open area were really good. The bathroom was really clean as well. The hostel was pretty crowded but the atmosphere was chill and comfy.

Rooms are nice, clean and modern. I was on the last floor so it even had a perfect view of the TV Tower in Alexanderplatz. Bathroom has a perfect size, bigger and more comfortable than any other hostel I've visited.
