Istanbul Airport is a remarkable gateway to a mesmerizing city. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by its modernity, efficiency, and sheer scale. The architectural design is awe-inspiring, blending traditional Turkish motifs with contemporary elements. Navigating the airport is surprisingly smooth, thanks to helpful signage and a well-organized layout. The variety of shops, restaurants, and lounges caters to every traveler's needs, offering a diverse range of options to pass the time between flights. The vast duty-free area is particularly impressive, offering a chance to shop for Turkish delights and souvenirs. The seamless transition between terminals and the availability of transportation options make connecting flights hassle-free. Istanbul Airport isn't just a transportation hub; it's a destination in itself, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience in Istanbul.
Fantastic airport! I love everything about this airport. I most especially enjoyed the nap area as I had a long wait before my connecting flight. There are loads of shops to buy stuff and to eat from as well! The toilets were very dirty though hence is give it a 4 star.
Beautiful airport but not so practical for those with mobility issues. Somehow you need to reserve a wheelchair ahead of time but I just grabbed one that happened to be around. If you happen to reserve a wheelchair before you land they will deliver you to a waiting area with other passengers that have mobility needs. It might take some time to then be transited to your gate so keep that in mind. We wound up just walking to our gate from this area.
The Turkish Airline lounge for domestic flights is too crowded and not worth the effort. Much more comfortable and spacious to be with the "peasants" (irony here and yes, less pretentious people in the general waiting area).
In the general waiting you can find a kid-friendly play area that shows how much the Turkish culture appreciates and nurtures children. <3
Taxis are great and efficient, around $30-$35 to Istanbul Fatih. Of course, make sure the meter is on but had no problems ever.
As a woman it felt very safe to travel here.
Water-filling stations are non-existent so make sure you bring water in a bottle from the plane or have it filled-up at the previous airport. I found this to be very important to help get through landing, navigating the airport, passport control, taxi ride, and arrival to the hotel.

It’s so big, like it seemed to go on forever. But well lit, well ventilated, walkways, lifts, escalators all working and courteous staff, ready to attend to whatever questions you have. Great and nice looking place
This is one of the best airports I've been to. Since it's quite huge, you might need to walk a lot. If you're over 65 you can get a buggy for free. Otherwise you can pay around 5 Eur per person for it.
They also offer many fast track options for very reasonable prices that can save you a lot of time and allow you to use the business class lane for security and passport control, which is very convenient.
There are plenty of delicious eating options before and after security.

Awesome airport! Large, comfortable, varied for entertainment during a long transfer.
Special thanks to Turkish Airlines for their bonuses for those who fly from an airline with a long transfer.
I had 9 hours transfer with a 4-year-old child, we didn’t even have time to get bored, there was something to see and what to do!

Fantastic airport, one of the best I have been, maybe Singapore Airport is close, but this one definitely better. Dogs room, I never seen in other airports, prayer room for different religions. Food court, good restaurants, shops, dutyfree, everything you need. I spend 5 hours here and explored it all around!!!
One of the most well organized airport even by Singaporean standard. For travellers with connecting flight you will know exactly how long it’ll take you to the clearance. Not enough time? There’s express clearance for it. There’s smoking area for travelling smokers. Kids play area for travelling family. Sleeping area for travellers that needed some recharge. Most impressive is there’s food and beverage options at the end of the terminals so you don’t need to worry about getting food then rush to your gate.
