This was built to honor Dugald Stewart who was part of the Scottish Enlightenment.
Like the other monuments on the hill, it was designed to mirror one in Athens Greece. It was designed by William Playfair and commemorated in 1831.
It sits in a lonely corner of the hill, but is worth the stop to learn about it.

He was widely respected in his day, enough so that this large structure was built in 1831.
There are several other monuments to enjoy on the hill but try to get to this one.

Beautifull place, i was surprised to see how many obiectives are in the same place and how clean it is. Is not a hard climbing but you have stairs aswell, you can enjoy the view from the bench or right on the grass. On top they have a cafe/restaurant, everything you need.

Really wonderful city views up here and quite quiet considering the time of day and the weather. A nice little hidden spot with benches and beautiful grassy areas to sit. Glad I took a different turn.
