The Vennel Viewpoint Edinburgh Castle
2024 Nov 15
Step pair of steps which also takea you to a part of Flodden Wall at the top.
This is also one of the vantage piunts to take photos of Edinburgh Castle. This is especially a good idea for a night photo of the castle.
There will be people here for the same reason. We came in early November, so it wasn't crowded. Not sure about the other seasons.
Take your time climbing as it is a "few" steps to the top 👍

Dugald Stewart Monument
2024 Nov 14
This was built to honor Dugald Stewart who was part of the Scottish Enlightenment.
Like the other monuments on the hill, it was designed to mirror one in Athens Greece. It was designed by William Playfair and commemorated in 1831.
It sits in a lonely corner of the hill, but is worth the stop to learn about it.

1812 Memorial Park

Little hideaway for sitting among the canal. It does have some cannons here to look at. In some cases, to sit if so inclined. There is a short brick path to the right which goes up to the Lewes Drawbridge. There are some benches along that path to sit and relax from the afternoon heat.
There is also a plaque talking about the bombardment of Lewes. This park is right next to a metered parking lot and across from the Post Office.

New Castle and Frenchtown Railroad

Nice slice of Railroad history for those interested. This is the remains of the Ticket Booth for the New Castle and Frenchtown Railroad from 1832.
Tortas de Fuego Village of Oak Creek

We wanted some authentic Mexican food while in Sedona (Village of Oak Creek). This place fits all the way.
I will have to start with the drinks . . . of course we are talking about Margaritas. I just went with El Texico (I like Mezcal). My wife went for the flight of 4 margaritas. As you can see by the picture, they were ‘explosive’. All of the drinks were perfect.
As for the food, the portions are HUGE. We started with the Fried Cactus which were cut like fries. They brought out our main meals right on time. I got the Del Pollo Mole Burrito and my wife got the Huarache Adovado (with Pork).
Again, these portions were HUGE, so we left really full. We should have taken half back for later, but didn’t have a place to store it.
The service was stupendous. Even though the bartender was also a waiter on our side, everything came out on time. If you are looking for some Mexican food, this is a place you need to go to.
