A very interesting place to check out when visiting NOLA. Check the official tour website or walk into the station building across the street. Casey was a fine tour guide with a good amount to say about those interred and NOLA's burial process.
PSA: To go inside the cemetery, you must buy tour tickets in advance and there is only one tour company that has access to the interior of this cemetery.
On the day of your tour, check in at the visitor’s center located to the right of the cemetery entrance and wait there to start your tour. There is air conditioning and clean restrooms in this building and a big parking lot.

Fascinating historic cemetery at the edge of the French Quarter. Our tour guide Buddy was a sweet man, very knowledgeable, and he gave my pale daughter and I an umbrella for some shade which was appreciated.
I have taken this tour a couple times in the past with different groups, and but Buddy was the first person to explain how the crypts are basically natural crematoriums for the bodies put within them. That was a cool, new fact to learn!
We went in late June and it was HOT. The cemetery is primarily concrete and white stone and, in the New Orleans sun, heat just radiates out of that place. Temp was in the 90s in the rest of the French Quarter that day, but there were signs that said it was 110° within the cemetery so if we felt sick, we should depart.
Having the umbrella was very nice, and there are also a few covered stops within the cemetery that also have a misting system to keep you from overheating.
Oh! And the famous cemetery cat, Esmeralda, even graced us with her presence!

We showed up, not knowing that we needed to be part of a tour to enter, but the host of the gate gave us great instructions to go next-door, and we were lucky enough to be on time to join the next tour starting in 10 minutes.
$25 for an adult seemed a little bit steep, but I don’t regret going at all.
The tour guide, Will, was very knowledgeable about the cemetery and New Orleans history. He also had lots of great recommendations for restaurants and places to see in the area. We found a muffuletta he recommended and it was incredible!
It was an eye-opening experience. They definitely recommend for anyone visiting New Orleans.

Our guide was awesome. The tour was perfect. So much history in this beautiful cemetery. And there are 6 plots still available to buy. That is. If you can afford it.
This tour was really neat. I enjoyed learning about the history of the cemetery and the burial process in general. Our tour guide Denise was great. I think for what it is it is a little pricey and think they should drop the price of entry. There are other cemeteries in the area that are free to enter and explore if you’re looking for the experience without the fee.
Excellent tour guide (Ron) gave lots of information and detail in explaining things throughout the tour. The tour began at Basin St Station and we walked as a group of 10 across the street to the cemetery. We felt safe, we all could hear our guide and we did have time to take pictures although brief. Once the tour was over, the entire group was instructed to stay together and exit the cemetery together. This was disappointing as we would have liked to have the time to actually read some of the headstones and enjoy the artistry of the tombs. But, all in all I am 100% glad I got to physically walk among these tombstones and learn some great history while taking into the beauty. Do this tour! You will regret not witnessing this impressive display of history and all the stories surrounding it.
Fascinating experience! Definitely recommend.
Will was fabulous as a tour guide!! You can tell he lobes talking about his city.
The knowledge you learn and the history is amazing.
Seeing the old tombs and how the process works is something you should experience.
The tour is $25 bucks but you get a tour guide who has the knowledge of the cemetery.

Really unique. So much history and interesting details behind it. Absolutely worth checking out. The tours are somewhat rushed when it comes to actually exploring or taking personal photos. I stayed back and was last to follow to allow myself a little bit of extra time to get some photographs. Tour guide was personable and knowledgeable of the Cemetery and New Orleans in general.
