I don’t know why nobody had thought of this before. Placing a used bookshop inside a library. It is is wonderful idea and i am glad someone had the common sense to do it.
The Book Cellar is located in the basement, or cellar, of the Webster Library. When i arrived there was already a good number of people milling around the shelves. The shop is rather compact but there was space to move around and inspect the shelves at my leisure. I found a selection of used title, including one I’d been looking for. I took my selection to the cash register, pad and was on my way.
I would highly recommend the Book Cellar to anyone who loves reading and loves a bargain.

Great place to buy used books!
A real gem in NY full of good books and super kind staff. Don’t visit if you are not willing to come home with a minimum of 10 books on your hands.
Excellent selection, has a great choice of classics where most used book stores have just a few. I found multiple books I was looking for here. Also all the money goes to the library system, and they’ll accept later the books they’ve already sold you.

An absolutely amazing used bookshop. I think the best in NYC. Great prices, nice folks working there, and lots of treasures to take home.
This is an amazing used bookstore. It's under the Webster Branch Library on York and 78th Street. They have all sorts of book here which are divided by subject. I love this store. All the proceeds go back to the library.
Great selection, helpful staff, check it out for yourself. It’s actually inside the Webster Public Library, in their basement! It really is a “cellar”.
