Hotel NH Düsseldorf City

It's an NH so it's not awful but it is the worst NH I have stayed at. There is always a disgusting cloud of smoke in the hotel entrance. You can't get a coffee on the morning for love nor money (no staff) unless you pay €25 for breakfast. Rooms are super dated and broken in places but the bed is fine. Basic basic business. Room was good value.

Quiet area, with a really nice park around the corner. The metro is right nexdoors, and it is 1 stop from main train station, 3 stops to city center.
The hotel itself is a very spacious, big lobby and breakfast area. Funny glass lift :)
Rooms are nice, good bathrooms with bath. Only minus was tha aircon was not possible to switch off, not even put on low fan. It kept going back to "auto," so the air could be pretty strong and cold. Breakfast was good. Is it possible to park underground.

The staff is super friendly the one saving grace. The rooms are old and outdated and are insanely hot air conditioning is a joke or completely broken. The rooms design also prevents absolute any air from flowing from the window that opens 2 centimeters max. Lastly cars drive by way too fast at night preventing any sleep.

I checked in at 16:00 and saw that the air conditioning was already on. However, it was warmer inside the room than outside. I disregarded it and went out to be back at 23:00 to the same state of the room. After giving it so many hours and the dial at maximum, it made no difference. I called the reception and they said they'll call me back with a solution and then no call was made back even though I waited for the call for about 20 minutes. Instead of wasting my time with the reception who did not even respect me to call back, I just opened the window for better circulation and had to sleep with the noise from the outside.

Additionally, the next morning when going to the gym, I realized what a bad state it's in. With about 3 cardio machines and half a set of free weights, it was just there for the sake of it and not taken care of. I even went down personally to ask them to refill the water supply at the gym and they said they would do it. 2 hours later, still nothing.

The respect to the customer is not given at all. I was contemplating switching to the NH group for regular business travel, but now, that's definitely not happening.

Hotel for business meetings without Internet and air condition. There is no internet connection in rooms and meeting rooms, same story with air condition. Even hard to imagine.
Staff on plus, very nice and helpful.

I stayed five days in this hotel.
Despite I had ‘Do not disturb’ sign hung on the door, room cleaning service had tried to barge in. It was around 10 am and these people didnt even say sorry but tried to call their head staff; I think her name was ‘Mara’.

Frankly, I was surprised and shocked at the first time, but I got used to it on my third, and I didnt even bother to put on my clothes when it happed on the last day.

Even though, I had endured and mastered a valuable lesson, I would not recommend this to other friends.

Room had a bed, a kitchen and a desk which was great. But it could use a renovation. Looks like it was built 20 years ago and not touched, which is fine. It was clean and well maintained just not to my taste.

I would steer clear of the the restaurant and bar though.

Rooms were clean and comfortable with everything you need, just a little dated in the room, although the sink and shower area had been renovated to modern standards. Nice hotel bar, can't comment on breakfast. The bed was very nice and comfortable. What let's this hotel down is the area it is in. Had to walk some distance to get to any decent restaurants. Walk in the wrong direction (not far) and its a bit of a dodgy run down area.
