Sushi Lab Rooftop is located on the top floor of Sanctuary Hotel on 47th St between 6th and 7th Ave. When entering the hotel, you go to the reception desk to check in for your restaurant reservation, and get escorted through the lobby to an elevator that is hard to find if you visit for the first time. The restaurant has great views of the nearby buildings - in summer, it is an open rooftop terrace, in winter it gets converted into a covered restaurant. The style is modern and stylish, most guests were in their 20s or 30s.
You order a variety of sushi creations - certainly not your traditional Japanese sushi, but a modern interpretation with different flavors and textures. We found all dishes excellent, and loved the fact that we could simply order more if necessary as there is no specific sequence.
We enjoyed the house sake with our food, which was nice and fresh. We found the price level absolutely appropriate. The place gets really busy, so better have a reservation.

Food 4.5/5, there are a few some have too much taste but overall very decent given by my Japanese food tasting experience. Uni, truffle, and Otoro are awesome. Fantastic view and worthy price at Times Square
This rooftop is definitely beautiful and makes for great pictures but it ultimately just feels like an Instagram trap because it was so expensive. The hostess (or owner maybe?) is quite the photographer and took some really great pictures of us so we really appreciated that. We came here for a friend's birthday and we ordered a couple of starters and some sushi. The Truffle Shrimp Pasta was by far the best tasting thing - the flavor was really good, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the portion was just right. Close second was the honey soy glazed wings they were flavorful and stayed crunchy the whole time. I ordered the Gold Digger and with a $25 price tag, I thought I was getting a whole roll... It was only one piece. I was honestly so sticker shocked, I don't even remember if it tasted good or not. It was gone in one bite since it was only one piece so there's no chance for you to really savor the flavor and with the price, it didn't feel worth it. We didn't even bother getting dessert because our bill was already sky high and we left still hungry. We ended up going to a different sushi spot near by for more food 😬.
The overall experience at Sushi Lab Rooftop was spectacular. Been raving about the food all week. We ordered their Lab Experiment which offers a 15 course meal. It was the best way to sample everything and it was so worth it. We couldn't believe the value of this meal and the quality of each pieces of sushi served. Will definitely dine here again on our next NYC trip.
Went here for my birthday and it was a phenomenal experience. Our server, Adrian, was the best! Immediately asked if there were any allergies (this is rarely asked and I appreciated this so much as I have food allergies), so kind, genuine, honest, always smiling, never bothered with questions and he gave some bomb and suggestions! I appreciated this so much because they were all true! The atmosphere is so cute with flowers everywhere, just an overall great experience. Can’t wait to return. Also, please promote Adrian. He’s the bestest!
Beautiful decor! We enjoyed out time at Sushi Lab Rooftop. We went for the Omakase - The Lab Experience and it was delicious! Very unique! The cocktails are amazing and the presentation makes everything very pleasant. The service was super! We will define go back to try the regular menu!
First time trying omakase and had a wonderful experience here at sushilab from setting, to food, to service everything was great!
We sat at the chef’s table so we can observe how the sushi is done and we’d know what we were given. We tried their 15 course omakase and had the pleasure of being served by Chef Luke who prepared all these fresh, beautiful and delicious sushi for us. Every piece was tasty and we enjoyed every single one even though we cant remember the names anymore lol it was hard to pick a favorite!
We were also served by Inka (i hope i got her name right) who was such a sweetheart! From taking a video for us, giving us tips on how best to enjoy the sushi and even giving us complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary! we had such a memorable time and enjoyed every minute we were there.
All the staff we encountered that day were pleasant which really gave a good impression and plus the setting is just beautiful as you can see from the photos! We definitely would recommend this spot especially for a first-time omakase experience!

Amazing atmosphere, inspired staff and chefs. I had the Lab Experiment and Matcha Crunch Roll. The whole experience was amazing and fresh. If you are looking for a modern rooftop food experience I highly recommend you treat yourself to this beautiful corner of NYC
